I have to find a new home for our babies, very sad
for us as we can no longer afford them. They are 1
female Mallard, 1 Male mixed Mallard/Muscovy, 1
male Mallard, and 1 female Muscovy. All were
hatched and hand raised by us in our home, but
could adapt to living outdoors. I could...
She is 7 1/2 months old. Such a cute tiny white egg after being washed.
Lisyla stopped laying and we had only 2 of her eggs left. I thought I would have to go out and buy some. Nothing like fresh duck eggs!
I found the usual Lisyla egg in her nest with a smaller shell-less egg and another large shell-less egg outside the nest. Is Lisyla's system messed up again, or do you think Niblet has finally started laying?
Our girl went through the nipping stage about 6 weeks ago, but it only lasted a couple of weeks. The boys started about 3 weeks ago and are still nipping hard, how long does this stage last in the boys? My poor daughter and I have duck hickies on our hands and arms just from changing their water...
My DD informed me today that Nigella was on top of Lisyla and had something hanging out that looked just like Xerxes'. I checked twice when he was a day old and I was sure it was a girl! Oh well, I wasn't expecting eggs anyway because it's a crossbreed. We now call him Nigel.
She surprised us when she started getting colored feathers on her head, we thought she was going to be pure white. The tips of the feathers look tan and the lower part looks blue.
Our Mallard (Niblet) is 30 days old and has feathered in completely on the belly has tail feather and has feathers in front of the wings already. We thought it was male, but now not sure.
I know female chickens feather faster than males and was wondering if ducks are the same.
This is our first try and I have been researching online and don't know what the correct humidity should be for Muscovy eggs. I see postings anywhere from 55% to 80% before lockdown and 70% to 95% for hatching. I'm confused. Should be getting the eggs in the mail by Friday, so need info asap to...
Free to good home Silkie roo & frizzled Cochin bantam hen. Roo has crossed beak, but he can feed himself from a deep dish of mash. Must go together since the hen cleans & preens him and they have always been together. Both are pets and very friendly.
He was hand raised and is very smart. Wanted to show him, but DS is allergic. He needs a home asap. $20.00 or best offer. Sorry do not feel comfortable shipping him. Hatched 1/6/09.
Disreguard the date, I forgot to reset the date on the camera. Pic taken today.
Mr. Red
