it never did with our other batch a few years ago. but either way i do not see the harm in going and getting red lightbulbs or those big heat lamp style lamps.

Are there any breeders in Sacramento or 3-4 hours away from sac selling blue ash and royal palm tom

I really had my heart set on trying to get an ash tom, so beautiful and they'd be so unusual. But I do not want to have to get any shipped from a hatchery in the mail.

I am wanting to get ash blue and royal palms toms and raise them as pets

I'm not looking for a flock I just want 2 or 3 I would have only gotten one, but my dad and another person said they're very social and they'd want more than just themselves. The guy I asked who runs an article about raising turkeys said 3 is better than 2.. I was thinking I could get a huge...

she's pecking a wound about a 25 cent piece wide and a few inches deep on her back where she has no

some of you might remember that my dog attacked one of our heritage turkeys and ripped all her feathers out on her back under her wings and left a few huge gashes, it's getting all leathery and healed up now, but Spartacus, or one of the other birds, but i think her because i've seen her peck it...

What are these awful growths on her head?

She's been pecked on and broke the skin open a couple of times and made to bleed, and then these showed up after the wound healed. The wounds healed smooth and gone, with just a slight pink scaring. They don't appear to hurt her but they're awful and ugly looking. there's 2 large ones as seen...

My dad's birds are all so dumb

how dumb are they you ask? They get stuck in wide open spaces cause when they get into a corner, like a corner of a fence, they fixate strait ahead , running back and forth endlessly trying to get out through that corner and can not see that they're not trapped at all, that they're just gotta...

if you raise ginni's with chickens will the gins think they'rechickens

My dad raised them together from itty bitty birds, and he says now the ginni's all think they're chickens, and act like chickens, I am not quite sure I buy that the ginni's think they're chickens just because they act more like the chickens than ginni's but who knows.

Chicken Vs turkey pecking smack down.

Our chickens are free range, and the turkeys are in a a frame pen, the wire put up * though this is not why it was used, it's what he had* lets the chickens reach in and try to peck the turkeys, but the turkeys are feisty lil buggers, they peck harder and faster, than the chickens do, and the...

That is one dumb ginni lol.

our coop is an a frame, , and then there's a door to an outer pen, and then a door out to the yard, very easy to get out of, they get out of it just fine to get the food in the "middle yard" but when all the other chickens are gone, out into the yard, the 3 ginni's always get stuck in the coop...

This is the dangers of window shopping.

soooooooo I found this lovely futon, My honey pie had one and it was rock hard, really cruddy, so I've always thought a futon would be nice, but only had his piece of crud one to go by, and other cruddy uncomfortably ones. it's being sold in pieces at Big Lots, 100 for the frame 179 for the...

what is he doing? it's hard to explain so bear with me.

When I am holding Spartacus, every once in a while he cranes his neck and makes drinking motions with his beak, but he's not thirsty, it just reminds me of when they open their beak, get a sip of water in then tip back a bit an swallow.

how long at a time can I safely hold a 10 day old?

I've been keeping it to about 25 minutes, and it doesn't seem to hurt it or nothing, it stays plenty warm, and it goes to sleep and blisses out and makes cooing noises an looks about now and then, now and then trying to climb to the top of my shoulder, and what not.
