    Bleeding from rectum

TOday, I had three pullets (about 12 weeks old) bleeding from their rectum. One had about a 2 inch tube of blood (I don't know if it is her intestine or not) but she is also very weak. Anybody know what this is, how serious and contagious it is and how to treat it?

    Newcastle or Bronchitis

I have had a batch of chickens with symptoms of Newcastle and bronchitis. I have given them anti-biotics and most of them have cleared up (about 3-4 still have symptoms but are improving). I'm getting a new batch of birds (likely today) and need to use the coop. I have cleaned it out and will...

    Sweet Potatoe Peelings

I was told recently that sweet potatoes hurt egg production. I give my chickens scraps and that sometimes includes sweet potatoe peelings. Has anyone heard of this?

    Suscribing to a thread

I'm assuming that the feature to suscribe to a thread saves it somewhere for easy access. If so, how do I find it? What is the best way to mark a thread to check out later?

    Electricity went out

My electricity went out last night @1:45. At 3:30, I got up and loaded up my baters and brought them to the office. One has several eggs pipping. In fact, the same batch had one to hatch yesterday--which was early. My question is: Is it ok to transport them back home as my electricity is...

    Absorbing the yolk

In my last hatch, I had only a few to hatch. About 4 were healthy. 3 pipped but had not absorbed all the yolk. Most of the other eggs had a fully developed chick but still part of the yolk unabsorbed. The ones that did hatch, hatched late, so I am thinking that my temp was too low. Any...

    Pullet eggs and cleaning

I have a couple of questions... My pullets just started laying (Auracanas), and I was wondering if the first eggs would be good to hatch since they are smaller. I know you're not suppose to wash your eggs but is it ok to to take a wet toothbrush and clean 'em and immediately dry them off?
