I have 2 BC eggs that are in incubation, set to hatch on thursday. However, the last time I candled them, one of them looked strange. It looked like it had a blood ring at the air pocket, is this normal? I don't know if they will hatch or not. How can I tell if they will hatch?? Just looking for...
While I went out to round up the chickens for feeding time, I noticed that our light brahma girl has a lump on her neck. on the left side. I can't really take a picture of it, as it is covered by feathers, but it is hard, and warm to the touch. What can I do? What do you think this may be...

What time of day do you collect eggs? I usually get 2 eggs a day, 1 from my BO Ginger, and 1 from my RIR Ruby. I've thought about letting the eggs sit until I go to lock everyone up at night. What do you do?
I'm curious as to if both of my BRs are roosters. One has the neck hackle feathers, the other does not. They are both the same age, came from the same local breeder. They are about 10-12 weeks old now, with no sign of crowing yet. (none of my other baby cockerels are crowing yet, they are EE)...

Well, I've put down about 3 birds this week, a hen that had crop stasis, and 2 pullets with nasty noses and VERY pale faces. I just put a barred rock down, she was nasty smelling and had a horrible pale face and was very weak and skinny. I figure I would save her the trouble, as we don't have a...

What do you call your eggs??? I know a few people around here call them different names, or I'm just from somewhere people are strange! Anywho! I call them cackle berries. My grandfather used to tell me that if I didn't eat all my cackle berries, his rooster would go after me!!! Haha!!!
