Hello!
We just purchased two laying hens to add to our flock. This afternoon we were catching them to inspect for mites and found this hen to have this gash. Should we be doing anything about this? She's laying and acting normal... She also has some bald spots on her back and butt where there...

Here is the latest photo:
Here is a really short video of our only baby chick. She hatched 2 days ago and seems lethargic and looks like it's panting. We are keeping the brooder at 95f and the humidity at around 60%
We have carefully followed all the online tips and techniques for incubating these eggs. Halfway through this process we candled them and saw the little guys wiggling inside the shell. Today is the 23rd day and so far nothing. We have not candled them again or picked them up to listen for any...
Is that a death sentence? I immediately took the top off and fanned like crazy to get the temp back down. Once cooled down I candled some of the eggs and saw movement inside.
We are building a coop for our soon to hatch eggs and I am blogging the entire process with detailed photo's and explanations if anyone wants to follow our progress.

We have 9 eggs incubating and July 5th is the projected hatch date. I was wondering how long we should keep them in the brooder before it's safe to move them into the coop.
Thanks in advance!
