It seems a bit cruel, but if you have a broody bird just let them do it. Dont help I know it is hard, but if the babies cant hatch on their own they probably wont survive with momma.
As to the egg in the pic did you help it or did it do all that on its own? It looks a bit dry, but should be...
are you planning to breed him to them and hatch the eggs? Unless he is the sweetest thing I dont see why you would have a roo at all. Now that said I have 9 so that I can just incubate eggs at any time, but the second a Roo gets aggresive towards people he gets one pass and if he does it again I...
Be very careful trying to lance as the bird is small and what looks like a small cut to you is big to them.
Is the site hot to the touch(more than the rest of the bird?). if the wounds are still open try using tri-coat(purple spray).
Also try a warm compress. You will have to hold the bird for...
I wish I had seen the bird. We have both Golden and Bald eagles here, several hawks and vultures. I know it was a bird that grabbed the hen cause there were no tracks and the feathers were in fresh mud. I will just have to keep watch
we use electric fence with a solar charger. you could use buckets, concrete and a post then string the ribbon or wire. My doge learned VERY quickly that the wire was painful and now I dont even keep it on all the time. They keep away on their own.

SHOOT IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!! dont wait dont even try to live with it kill it right away
If you dont have a gun try a bow or even a spear if you can get close enough
Man and you cant even think about shooting that critter. So sorry for your loss. are you in a permenant home for the eagle or a migration route?
also you could try 12 gauge BLANKS to scare it off
I just posted this in a fire ant thread.... Try baking soda and sugar. sprinkle it on the piles the ants go to get the sugar and get some soda too and then think of the grade school volcano thing. The soda reacts with the acids in the ant and the ants die. Then if your chickens are so inclined...

A rat snake is not able to harm you adult birds. I dont know if they will eat the eggs, but they will definitely help with rodents. I would leave them be in the future unless you are raising chicks near them.
I had the same issue. I told the dogs owner that since I had lost several birds the their dog(their child told mine at school their dog killed our birds) that from now on ALL dogs that werent mine and were lose on my land were to be shot on sight. The dogs have not been seen since thank...
set up "bait" stations and get rid of the rats. I have rats, but they dont seem to do anything other than eat the food. They even go in with my 10 week old babies and just eat the food the babies are fine(2 weeks outside). I will be getting my stations and poison tomorrow. I got it from...
