    Looking for Silver pheasants.

I am aware of the lack of good hatch rates of shipped eggs. But if that is all I'm able to find im willing to give it a try. I would love to be able to find juveniles or adults but that doesn't seem to be an option.

Lost a pekin... what could have done it

Found one of my pekins while cutting the fields. It was the female half of a pair. And was found while cutting the fields. That pair is not locked up at night they sleep by the pond. It looked like what ever it was ate nothing but the insides. What does that?

Do people hatch quail and release them?

Where to get chick shipping boxes?

Where should I get my order of chick shipping boxes? I have all the supplies to send them frozen but do not have what I need to send them live. Is there a good place to buy them that is not an arm and a leg?

    Postal System lost my chicks

USPS does not guarantee live animals. You should be able to get a refund for the amount of shipping but you will not be able to get a refund from the post office for the cost of the birds. I have been shipping live animals with USPS for over 6 years. You have to read the fine print when it...

    When can they go outside?

My baby chicks were hatched on Dec 14th. They spent the first 10 days inside under heat lamps and fed medicated food. I then switched them to the unheated but insulated and enclosed garage with a heat lamp which is where they have been for almost 3 weeks now. My next steps is to move them to...

Extra chick... what is she/ he?

Quote: No puffy cheeks either :-( I don't think anyways. I ordered some Amercauna ( I think I spell that wrong). I will try to get some pics soon. No hatchery sells Ameraucanas...you have to get them from a breeder. Whatever you got from the hatchery would be considered an Easter Egger...

Quote: I know how you feel. I put 42 eggs in the incubator a few days ago as well. Not to mention the 25 chicks brooding in the garage. I am not sure what I was thinking at the time but oh well. They could be hatching any day now... I think this is day 20 ish.

Extra chick... what is she/ he?

I will try to get some pics this weekend. I ordered some chicks from Mt healthy a few weeks ago. There was an extra "yellow" chick. Which I thought was a light braham. it looked the same as the light braham chicks. Since it has been feathering up I am pretty sure it is not a ligth brahama...

    Round 2 with a broody

Day 18 I think. I am expecting that if any hatch it will be a late hatch. The first hen would get up a few time a day and stay out for what I feel is a little too long. The new white mama is stayin gout and not getting up at all. I tried coaxing her out to eat and drink.. But she is a big...

    Beware of raising winter chicks

This was my first attempt at raising winter chicks. They spent the first 10 days in the frog room in the basement and then were moved to the garage. In the garage they have heat lights and seem to be feathering up at a good pace. They have been in the garage a little over a week now. In 4...
