I have been reading about other hen stories about this and have read to clean the vet out with vinegar and water. Can a use an infant enema? She is lethargic, has smelly yellow green "poops" around her vent and on her feathers. There was broken egg in the coop that the others were eating when I...
I have a bald sizzle that my bantam cochin roos liked a little too much. She has no feathers on her back and lots of broken feathers. I brought her inside in a dog crate with a heat lamp and have been feeding her extra protein. I plan on giving away the roos and I have a friend making sweaters...
So I think my birds have lice. I saw a little white-ish bug crawling on one of my hens faces. I did some reading and looks like most people treat the bird and coop with Sevin dust but reading the label it says it is harmful to humans and domestic animals. Is this stuff really ok to use? Has...
I have young hen with one swollen eye, it doesn't look like any i have seen on here. It's the corner closer to her beak. I can try to get a pic later but she not the nicest bird. I will have to catch her tonight and bring her in. There is no oozing and the eye is open. Can I try Baytril...
I have a young pullet that has a weird growth on her beak. It's kinda hard but bled a little with no puss when I poke it with a sewing needle. I cleaned her up with peroxide and neosporin. I can't find any info on anything that looks like what she has. Does anyone know what it is and how I...
I have a broody hen sitting on Marans eggs due to hatch next Wednesday. I had one egg disappear last week, it had a slight crack/chip in the top of it. There was no sign of egg anywhere. This morning I went out and fed them and collect eggs and there was a another hen in the house laying her egg...
Can a fixed rabbit be kept with an intact male? I have a huge house and inclosure with a male rabbit but would like to put more with him. I'd like to rescue a rabbit from a shelter or something.
Thanks!
I lost a few birds over the winter from Marek's (diagnosed by the state lab) but some of my remaining were vaccinated. My question is are they considered carriers of it and should I keep them, can they still spread the disease?
Thanks
Long story short I think I have a bird with Newcastle. She is being euthanized tomorrow at the state lab and tested. If she does have it does that mean I will loose the rest of my flock or will I have to have them all put down? I have already lost 3 about a month ago to the same symptoms!
Just got her, she does have few little feathers on her feet. The other pic is the bird on the right, same bird on the bottom. No clue what she is either. Thanks!
Hi chicken folks, I picked up 2 barred rocks(I think) they were living in poor conditions and their feathers are really picked on. They are in a small coop away from my main flock. Every time I go in there to check their food or water the peck me like crazy! I have seen them peck each other too...
I have lost a few hens in the past week and was wondering if there is somewhere I can send them for a necropsy and if there is a place that will do it for free. I am in NH and I know UNH does it but was told its $125 if it's sent out through my vet.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm thinking the one with the white tail may be a roo not sure about the one with the black tail. The one with the white tail crows but its the most awful crow I've ever heard!
Can some one tell me how much powder Rooster Booster vitamin & electrolyte would go in one gallon of water? Direction only say 1 once of powder in 16 gallons of water. Just wonder if anyone knows how many teaspoons or tablespoons
Thanks!
I have a young hen that has not laid yet. This morning she was sitting in the hay outside my son pat her and we went about feeding and whatnot and went inside. Later I went to feed them some bread ends and they all came running except her. She was sitting in a different spot but not far from the...
