How long do isa Browns / red sex links live and lay?

First off yes my girls are true ISAs from Zeeland. They will be three years old in May. One died last year and so now we have 3 isas and 3 RIRs. In year I to 2 we would get an average of 6 eggs a day every day. Now going into year 3 it's two most days. I'm guessing the isas are done at this...

    New chickens

We have ISA browns and Rhode island Reds. I don't know if they are big or small compared to other breeds but the ISAs are so sweet and friendly. The reds can be but they dont seem to want to be touched most of the time. The ISAs will jump up in your lap if you have something yummy for them...

    Cost of keeping them...

We have had 7 chickens for 5 months. With start up and cost for coop and food I would say we have spent at least a couple hundred.

Is this a blanket under the shell???

Holy cow I cant believe the thick lining on our eggs as compared to the store bought eggs! Just wondering does this make for easier peeling when hard cooked or does it make it worse? I do want to try steaming them because we love hard boiled but hate trying to peel them!

We have 7 chickens all hatched around may 10th. As far as I have seen only one is laying. She's an ISA and has layed every day for 12 days. I've seen her lay at least 5 of those and I have yet to have more then one egg a day. I have at least 3 other chickens who are as developed as her and I'm...

I've gotten a single egg every day since last wed. I thought it was a rhode island at first. But Saturday Sunday and today I've watched one of the ISAs, Dumpling laying the egg. Is it possible that she's been laying every day since her 1st egg? I didn't think they layed so frequently at first...

Before my family got the idea to try and raise chickens, we knew nothing. Well maybe a little as my boyfriend grew up on a farm. However the difference between what his dad did there and what we need to do for our backyard flock is quite large! So much of what I know and now feel confident...

Our Rhode Island reds and ISA browns are all 20 weeks now and no eggs. I have two whos combs tripled in size and I'm hoping they start soon! Then 2 whos combs are getting there but I still have 3 who barley even have combs at all. I'm guessing like people they all develop at their own rates. I...

    14 weeks and not roosting...

Ours tend to all sleep huddled up in a pile on the floor even before it got cold at night. But they do get in their boxes at some point because theres always butt imprints in them. My bf is sure they will lay in the boxes but I'm almost sure I'm going to find the first eggs on the floor!
