Hi all, my rhode island red rooster is young, (no tail feathers yet), is still learning to crow, (sounds like he has a sore throat) and as far as I can tell in good health. He is active with the ladies also, but here is my concern. His feet and legs started out a nice strong yellow but now have...
Hi all, I would like to see a full grown RIR rooster. I have a young one but I would love to see one full grown to see how he will turn out. If anyone out there has one, could you post his picture please? Thanks.
Hi all, I have a hovabator 1588 with a electronic thermostat and a fan. What should the humidity be at? 40%. or closer to 60%. I'm not talking about when you raise the humidity just before the hatch. I mean for most of the time the eggs are developing. Thanks

Hi. I live in Ma and this winter was the first my chickens had to live through. The breeder I bought my young pullets from told me it is lethal to heat the coops. I looked at his breeding pens and he told me as long as they can get out of the wind and weather and they have a place to roost at...
One of my RIRs has bloody feet from the other hens picking on her. They are pullets that are laying. I've tried cleaning the injured area with peroxide and triple anti-biotic cream then covering the area with the blu-kote spray to cover up the red wounds. It heals, then just when I think she's...
Cat food is great when they are going through a molt because they need the protein for feather develoment, but not a good thing every day. Just my thoughts.....
This one coop with the hen with the picked toe, has 4 black sex-links, and two RIRs. They have been laying for about a month. I have another coop which has three occupents, a barred rock and two RIRs. They have been laying since last summer. They are all pullets in other words. Not the toe...
