A couple of days ago my chicken math kicked in & 3 little ones made their way home with me! I think I have three pullets... Though time shall tell!
This is a snap of the 3 of them when we arrived home after only a short journey. I believe they are all around 6/8 weeks? Though the chick I thin...
I think they may look for them for a few days - it is upsetting for the hens. I don't know if it would be too late but I would of been inclined to leave them with 2 each to give them a chance to be moms. And still leaving them wit less so not so likely to sqish anyone....
Long as you have a warm light for them & show them their food & water they will b grand!! I've never had to deal with squashings - I'm not surprised you felt the need to rescue them!
Ohhh I am only new to this - but I wouldn't of separated the chicks from their mums.... I left my broody in with the other hens & 1 rooster all the way through. Though she only managed to hatch one chick so she could protect her/him very well.
Though now they are separate probably best to leave...
So - recently thanks to some lovely folk here, I got confirmation that my lovely Pekin hen, is indeed my lovely Pekin rooster!
now I am unsure of what to do. Opinions seem to vary soooo greatly over what is a good idea, and what would be a disaster!
I obviously dont wont to leave things...
I am unsure if we have EE's in the UK - We do however have Araucanas, which I believe to be somewhat similiar? Might be totally wrong but someone will let us know :)
wahoo :D Thanks - I am happy the rest are ladies! I can deal with 2 Roos - hopefully!
Now to try and teach myself not to take peoples word for it - and learn to at least 1/2 know if they are ladies of fellas myself!
I picked these two little sweethearts on Monday
They are the youngest I have had so far - & currently falling more in love each day! They are approx 6 weeks old ( i think ) & seem healthy and bright, apart from some mights I found this morning whilst handling them
They are currently...
