Hey all! I have a cutie baby that just hatched and havent found a comparable chick to get a good guess on eventual coloring. Any opinions?
Mom is partridge and I have two roos, solid white and solid black. Baby is grey with white wing tips, toe feathers and the cutest white booty.
Well, I was sold a dozen of silkie and frizzle mix eggs, and a dozen of "polish mixes." All Hatched May 18th.
My temp was off in the incubator and we had a pretty horrible hatch. I have 12 babies, but some just appear a little off!
Usually I get about 70% Hens. This time... Not so sure...
Hoping this one's a girl!
I haven't had experience with Polish before, and this was one of two left in the straight run bin.
No discernable waddles yet. Pretty round head.
Sorry about lighting in pictures!
They're ~4+ weeks now.
I'm thinking the Silkie mix is a boy. Has the bump and a lil bit o waddles.
Supposedly the BJG was a sexed pullet. *crossing fingers*
And the Polish was one of the last two.
None really exhibit Roo behaviour like my last batch was really obvious who were boys.
But look...
Hello! Looking for someone to take my little babes. They're about 8+ weeks old now, and doing well outside.
Rhode Island Red mixed, all very sweet. Would prefer no one to take for meat, that's why I'm trying to offer here.
They're gorgeous little weird birds.
So this is probably something inflicted, as we put them into a cat crate for cleaning and the crazy little thing stuck its neck out and got a bit caught in the back side of the wire door. I wasn't holding the door, so I'm not sure how hard it was pressed.
It very well could have been another...

Continuing from there. All are RIR mixes except the last one.
If anyone wants to guess genders feel free~
1st: Unknown. Doesn't chest-bump with the three known roos. Not nearly the comb...
Does anyone else think that chicks voices turn kind of.. robotic?
It sounds a little like it's being fed through a speaker as they get older.
I don't think I've ever had one change at 2 weeks before!
Anyone think this could be a correlation to being a rooster?
We've been pretty sure this one...
If anyone's interested in taking a shot at what the moms may be, please feel free! Or just look at the cute little babies.
Bought hatching eggs from a farm with a RIR rooster and a black silkie rooster (I don't think his genes are here, though) and a unknown variety of hens.
Side and top pic...
Well, this one is going to make me very sad if it's a male. Just saw some black chest feathers coming in. This is a hatchery quality SF.
I don't have any others to compare it to, but with my three other breed chicks, this one feathered in the fastest and has a pretty decent size tail.
Only four this time, trying to tame them a lot better through hand-feeding and spoiling.
We've got (presumably) One Cuckoo Maran, One Welsummer, One Easter Egger, and One Salmon Favorelle. Supposed to be all pullets! The EE was the only one I bought "commercially" at Farm and Home (roos and...
One single chick. Has thin legs, bought from our feed store that only orders pullets.. But accidents can happen I know. Not too good on gender guessing this breed. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Has just one tiny nub at top of comb. Kinda cute. lol
And a 6 week old Australorp.
They're all growing pretty evenly. Any gender guesses would be appreciated.
3 NHRs, Two developed underbeaks.. Never buying from Rural King again.
Can get separate pictures. Gonna number them.
1 on left, 2 on right.
2 in front, 3 in middle, and 1 towards the...
Everyone guessed hen before, still think the same? Both have a habit of chest bumping all the chicks, but I think my other hen does it some, too. Also not sure if I'm looking too hard for pointy saddle feathers.

And any opinions on this "guy". Got his comb really fast, but his...
I'll keep this updated, they're a little over 2 weeks old now.
So let's start early! 3 chicks.
Chick 1: Mostly all black face. Wings are slowest to grow in. Comb is most prevalent. Tail poof is starting to be visible.
Chick 2: Wings and tail came in very quick. Comb also prevalent...
Bought 3 little yellow babies from Rural King. They had their Silver Laced Wyandottes mislabeled as New Hampshire Reds, and these little guys were labeled Gold Laced. Can anyone tell me what they may be yet?
They're 1 week old and getting their wings feathers.
I got some mixes from a person off the CL, since hatching our own eggs turned up only one viable baby (the man in town must have inbred his chicks, since the ones that hatched died shortly and had really bad feet) So after running 100 miles to get the only baby chicks available... All I know is...
