Kinda like the lady at my store (convenience/gas station) two weeks ago who came in to prepay for gas after explaining I did not have change for the $100 bill she offeredme for $10.00 gas (we only kepp $50.00 or less in the register at all times)
I watched as she went back to her truck and...
ooooh my hate list
1. rattlesnakes
2. skunks
3. dogs sprayed by skunks
4 dogs sprayed by skunks who insist their place is right beside the bed at 3:00 A.M.! or worse yet on the bed!
Ot's tough not knowing what happened. Perhaps she is just roosting somewhere comfy tonight and will show up safe and sound for breakfast?
I too am dreading the trip to the coop in the morning as it was well after dark when I got home tonight and went to close the coop for the night only to find...
30 mins - 3 hours with my current reading material while sitting in the run with the birds, doesn't add up to getting much reading done but it is definately far better for my blood pressure than the meds all of the doctors have tried so far!My sphygmomonometer(sp? (blood pressure monitor)) has...
Mine do the same thing. They prefer to dust bathe along the fence, I think they use the fencing as "support" something to push against to get better traction to help loosen up the hard soil. My entire coop and run has an "internal" trench around the inside edges.

If I ever have to pay that much for chicken feed then I know some girls who'd dern well better start popping out some solid gold eggs!
Gora! What kinda grains they putting in that feed? Imported?
I love my girls but Kriminny! They seem healthy to me and are giving me TONS of delicious...
Isn't dry wall composed mainly of Gypsum? I think I would do some serious research on whether or not Gypsum is a source of calcium and/or other info on chickens consuming Gypsum in potentially large quantities.
My GUESS is you will find it is NOT a good source of calcium.
I COULD BE WRONG
I often take my current book down to the run, set up a chair in the middle and sit and "read" for an hour or two as often as I can
I don't get much "reading" done actually but that is okay, I find it much better than my BP medicine and an easier "pill to swallow"
Looks like my RIR roo Big Guy or BG
Handsome feller!
BG is really great with his girls! Always letting them get the trears first even telling them about them so they won't miss out.
A feirce guard doggy but gentle and "usually" sweet guy with me. He definately does not want attention other than...
Wow. Looks like something out of Dr. Seuss. What kinda hens you got laying now?
I've got some EEs just starting to lay and so far have had some olive and pink eggs about the size of your blue green, perhaps a little smaller but none the size nor especially the color of your small purple one!
Check your local feed store some may be willing to buy them. I just found one here that will buy my surplu eggs for resale, Of course I get less but it beats throwing out rotten eggs!
Almost ALL of my birds are from Ideal stock and I have never had any problems like what is being described. I have had chick losses but most of mine were overcrowding or dog problems. I would contact Ideal and
1. let them know your having problems
2. Ask if anyone else has reported problems
If...
Give mine a melon of any kind and they think they are in heaven!
Refrigerate or even freeze grapes, strawberries any smaller type fruits or veggies (cut 'em in half first) (( it's easier that way)).
Usually preceeded by a wing tip dropped to the ground and some really fast feet stamping and the roo will grab the feathers on the back of the hens head or neck then the piggy back ride. Been seeing lots of it round here lately as my 20 week BO roo has really takin' a shine to my 20 week white...
Your feather loss will become more obvious as the breeding frequency increases. Remember the roos have "toenails" as well as spurs ( or the spurs they will develop)
I have one BSL girl who has never been very submissive to ANYONE Thus when BG my RIR roo sets his sights on her as his next...
Thought it was the best directed so far!
Missed a few things but followed the book very closely and didn't drag at all, which it easily could have at several points but they succeeded at keeping it flowing.
One more to go I hope they do as good on the last one!!! There is SO MUCH in the last...
Everyone is talking bout the gorgeous NN AND SHE IS ..AND SHE IS.. but what is the black one, do you know? They are both beautiful!
I am Sooooo jealous Christy!! Lucky you! Is this one Malachi's? Lucky little hooligan! Hmmm we may have to talk eggs! (When I finally break down and get that...
Urine and lots of it... Collect it in a jar, bucket whatever in the house if it is not feasible for the boys in the house to handle this outside for you. In Lakewood depending on where you are this could be an issue with your neighbors and or the police dept. Let's not go there!!! Use the old...
My darling mother.... born in 1931 mind you, To this day says empFty And will argue with you about what she says vehemently. In my 45 years I can never recall an instance where she ever said EMPTY. Of course we tease her about this constantly
