Hello,
I am from Quebec as well (sherbooke to be exact). There are a few people able to sell fertile eggs around trois-rivieres... I know a guy who has golden laced wyandotte and silver laced as well. PM me if you want more infos. (you can write in french if you prefer).
For the garage sae...
Well.... went into lockdown this morning. Right now, humidity reads 80%....In the brinsea pamphlet, they just mention 65% or higher... but is 80% too high????
Good luck to everyone still waiting like me....
Congratulations Katsdar!!!
What an amazing Xmas that will be.
Here, the incubator is doing a good job. I had to pruchase a medical mercury thermometer (about 1$ a the paharmacy) to see wich one of the two thermometer in the brinsea said right and surprinsingly, my digital was the most...
I tough I might leave them in the incubator until day 10 since they don't smell yet and since I am new at candeling. But thanks for the advice.... I wont leave them longer than necessary if they do not show signs at day 10.
Just Candled my 12 eggs on day 7.
All four bantam wyandotte are clear (There's one bird not doing it's job there!!!) I am a bit disapointed but hey...
One belgian quail anterp that looks fine and the other that looks like a blood ring.
And finaly, 3 silkie out of 6 seem fine. The other: 1...
I have got 12 bantam eggs in the incubator du december 15th and so we made a brooder last weekend (thanks to Missjenny for the "chickaquarium" idea).... loved it.
My question is: Do you think putting a window screen on top is a good idea??
I want them to have enough ventilation, but I also...
The Eco comes with a glass thermometer. I added this one mostly to get an idea on %humidity....
The digital and glass thermometer are usually about 0,5F different.... so far, I have decided to follow the glass thermometer rather than the digital...
I'll be joining you guys!! I set 12 bantam eggs in my new eco20 last saturday (on the 24th).....
Can't wait to candle them next weekend. This is so exciting....
I hope everything goes well for my first incubation!!
Everything is now ready for the little chicks!
I lowered it after an hour..... I was too scared that it would damage the egg (beeing too high).... It now stands at a 100F (mercury thermometer just after the fan) and my digital one says around 99F at egg level....
Ouf... so exciting and stressful at the same time!!!!
So Far Katsdar, the humidity has been very easy to adjust, but like I wrote in my message, this is my first incubation, so it's too early to tell you if I recommend the brinsea or not. It has great reviews here in BYC, so I hope it was a good choice.
I can tell you more in 21 days....
Hi everyone,
I have had my brinsea eco20 running on 99.5F and humidity around 40-50%for at least 3 days. It was very stable until I put my douzain eggs inside. The termometer now says 101F after about 30 minutes...... Should I just wait and let it settle back down or should I reajust it...
Congratulations!!!!
I wouldn't have been able to sleep either. Too exciting....
I just put 10 eggs in my brinsea eco 20 this morning. It's my first hatch and I can't wait to see the little chicks that will come out of this little adventure!!!
Hello, I haven't tried the ecoglow inside and insulated coop, but it sounds like a great idea. I will keep on reading this post. I just ordered my ecoglow 20 and looking forward to using it!
