    Emergency run being built.

I am so sorry. I have seven chickens. 5 large fowl and 2 normal size silkies.

    Emergency run being built.

Hi. Up until now my chickens have been totally free ranging, but two of my naughty dogs have decided they want to chase them, and I am worried they could get hurt. My son and I are building a run out of 6 ft by 3 ft aluminium panels. There is enough to make an outdoor run measuring 15 ft by 21...

Final check before I sell him/her: Roo or Pullet?

If I remember, I will take some pictures myself. We brought them in to compare against your update, and one has a smaller comb than your baby, the others is around the same size.

Final check before I sell him/her: Roo or Pullet?

Compared to my two (who I am thinking may both be roos ) The comb looks redder, but the tail is a bit bigger than the one I was sure was a girl till the last couple of days, and a lot beigger than the other ones. I think you may have more copper feathers, but mine are a marin mix of breeds, so...

Final check before I sell him/her: Roo or Pullet?

Could you put updated pictures of the chick on please? I would like to compare it to mine. I am crossing everything I have at least one pullet, or my hatch will have resulted in zero for my flock

I understand. When my little silkie died I sobbed for hours. In fact, I will never attempt to incubate again. Hugs to you tslaven.

HELP.. need to find out what this baby is!!!

Silkie chicks are small. That sounds the right sort of size to me.

Final check before I sell him/her: Roo or Pullet?

I thought they were the same age. Mine are 2 weeks 4 days. The person I got the eggs from said my two are pullets. He looked at pictures when they were a day or 2 old, and went by their comb, or lack of it. They don`t look much different than your little one, so I would hang onto it, and hope...

    Swheat For the Brooder?

I think they would eat it, and it would clump in their crop. Great idea in principle though.

Final check before I sell him/her: Roo or Pullet?

I have no idea, but I am interested as I have 2 maran type chicks. How old are these? They look similar in age to mine, who are 2 and a bit weeks.

    Partridge silkies.

Thank you for your replies. Once I was there they looked very different. How Funkey, the one I thought was a pullet was so brightly coloured, I feel pretty sure it will be a roo. The other one had backwards growing feathers, so I wasn`t sure about that one either. Luckily there was 2 more to...

    Partridge silkies.

I am thinking the same. I can`t keep roosters, so it will be a case of deciding when I go to see them later. Thank you! The seller hasn`t said they are pullets. She may have had more hatch than she can cope with. I will keep you up to date.

    Partridge silkies.

Any chance of a guess her please? Not mine yet, so I am having to use the pictures the present owner sent me. Both 9 weeks old. Chick one looks like a pullet to me. Chick 2 I am not so sure of.

    Is this chick plain stupid?

I do remember. I am just not tough enough for all this. I am enjoying the chicks I have, but it is certainly a one off experience for me.

    Is this chick plain stupid?

Thank you. I have decided to just buy chickens at POL from now on. I understand the prices now, and well worth every penny!
