Ya, we've used that in the past for my banties, but we don't really need all of the extra calcium and protein for eggs now.. is there any generic poultry feed with no extra supplements... plus their free range so they get a lot of "yummies" from the grass too. thanks!
We have a flock of non-laying, older hens. They haven't layed well in a couple of years, and the feed we have been giving them (layer crumble) is getting a little too expensive. There is NO WAY we are going to get rid of them, but they need a new feed. What can we still give them for nutrition...

I just got some bantam chicks(biggest is supposed to be 26 oz) and have been feeding them standard layena chick starter. The grains seem to big for them to swallow, we started grinding them up with a coffee grinder.
I read somewhere that you can feed them game bird starter instead, so we got...
I got mine on thursday. we've lost 4 so far.
Its pretty common for chicks (not just mail order) to pass during their first week.
Could be stress, breeding problems, sickness, or just weak birds. Are they bantams? Bantams need different feed and are a lot more fragile.
I'm so sorry, I understand!
