can't go wrong with raised beds and they look awsome as well. total control over soil conditions and creeping weeds not to mention irrigation. i recomend soaker hoses.

you could try a multi event short cycle water timer. i have a couple that will turn on four times per day for as short as two minutes that i use for the dogs water and misting system for plant cuttings.
