Would anybody like to trade something for rabbit breeding does? They are partial pedigree mini Rex and New Zealand mixes. Happy healthy natures. Was going to eat them, but they all ended up being does. I kinda hate to waste such good does as food, but need to make room for my new batch. I live...
I have been having this problem with one of my new pullets. I have tried the vinegar, but have not seen any change. How long does it take or what do I do if it doesn't work? The pullet is acting fine except the large mass sticking out of its front, you can't even tell she's sick.
I have lost one to an unknown factor. I discovered that the black chick in the picture had a limp, which made it hard to get around. I thought it had simply hurt its leg, due to the large pumbing crate I kept them in. last time I do that, but it was free and what I was looking for. The chick...
I have to agree that mutts would be best. Funny thing is I figured there would have been more people commenting on this. After all, homesteading should not just limited to this planet.
I have to agree on the not being able to tell once they reach a certain age. They were very small in size, but that has more to do with the breed of bantum as opposed to the weather.
I think I remembered a rule thaty ou had the conservation dept if a protected species got in your livestock/land/pond. Not sure if it's still require though.
I've had conflict between my rooster and boss hen on occasion. I think it is because the rooster feels threatened by the boss hen authority. I have had to increase the flock size or add another rooster so my main rooster would be more threatened by the other male than the boss hen. I 'm not sure...
Not to sounds like a nay sayer, but you are 100% sure the one hen the rooster is mean to is in fact a hen? It's not that I doubt you. I have just seen case in the past were a rooster was being mean to one particular hen of a mixed breed. He found out later she was actually a he, but because of...
Let us believe that homesteading on colonies or mars is soon coming. Which breed of chicken would you pick for your new homestead and why?
Please don't get annoyed. It's just a line of thought that could just as easily be applied to homesteading is different parts of earth.
I wish I could share this link and quote with every person who complains about the bumps. Some of the city slickers I sell eggs to freak out when the egg is not 100% like the ones they buy in the store. Any bumps or slightly off in shape must mean there is something wrong with the egg. -_-
No...
Some of the chicks were the same breed as the current ones I am raising. I have see other mixed breeds as well. All came from the same parents. I didn't know that about dingos, but it makes sense. This "adaptive precaution" makes the most sense as to why the only three chicks came from the silke...
Thanks for the info lungewhipqueen. It really also sets my mind at ease.
Also, I too am sorry for going all goat in this thread. I just got so excited to talk to other folks in Missouri who have the kind of goats I want to raise. I'll stay on topic from here on out.
