    FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Thank you for checking. I think I'm going to check with the local feed and seed store to see if I can list him there or just give him to them. They have several that free range there. I'm a vegetarian and there is no way I could ever kill one of my own birds so I'm trying to figure out what to...

    Isa Browns 1

Welcome to my page! I have 6 ISA Brown Pullets and 2 more on the way. My obsession with chickens starting innocently. Instead of throwing out the Rural King flier like usual one day I got curious and read it. I saw "Barred Rock Pullets" advertised for .99 a piece. Then I started thinking about...

    Inside or outside in winter?

My girls have their summer home, just a basic coop with wire along the top for ventilation, sitting on top of a large covered run, so that they can go into it whenever they want, and a trap door I can close at night. I have a poll barn that I can move the coop into if needed. What should I do...

Use of mannequins to deter hawks?

Our new resident hawk is not afraid of me AT ALL. He's huge and stares me down, just sitting there in trees waiting for me to let my girls out of the run. They are definately determined hunters. I would try the CD's 1st.

when are the other slackers going to start? I thought they were all the same age, 17 weeks. My 1 started two weeks ago. Is it normal for them to be so spread out?

    Indiana folks join in....

I'm in West Lafayette. I'm thinking I will charge $2.50 per dozen, for free ranging, $2.25 if they bring their own cartons... Does that sound reasonable to you? What are you able to charge?

Old farmer / neighbor said "no grass"?

My response when he told me that was "is that bad?"... Just wondered if I was off base, but judging by the comments it was he who was off base. I'll continue to let them chow down as much as they want. We also give them mowed grass and move the tractor every few days to give them fresh grass.

Old farmer / neighbor said "no grass"?

Yesterday my neighbor, who has been farming / raising livestock since the 50's told me that if I let my chickens free range or eat grass their yolks will come out a very "unpleasant orange yellow". Thoughts?

    Is this irresponsible behavior?

My aunt had a cat who demanded to go out every night, and would return in the morning. One morning he came back very sick. He was injured somehow and the vet said it would be very helpful to know what happened to cause the injury, but no one knew because he was obviously out prowling alone. He...
