It's still a work in progress for us too :) The paint ended up taking a backseat to the chickens needing to move in, so for now, the paint has been put on hold (I did buy 2 reject gallon at Lowes for cheap though....one pink and one green). The girls really seem to love having all that room...
Hello, I recevied some bantam chicks in the mail Thursday and a couple of them have had pasty butt. I cleaned one of them this morning, and now there are two red dots on its vent, and if I dab it with a wet cottonball there's a little blood on the cottonball. What is it and what should I do...
We ended up with a total of 7 from yesterday and this morning from 9 eggs. I still have the other 2 eggs in the incubator "just in case" but there's no pips or anything. We now have 2 barnevelders, 2 brown leghorns, 2 dominiques, and 1 chocolate orpington bantam :) The two that didn't hatch...
Yikes! I'm glad they all hatched though! The one I dropped, dropped onto my kitchen floor... cracked and dumped onto my floor....definitely not going to hatch ;)
I'm so sorry :( I was unpacking some last night that I had reveived in that mail and dropped one...I felt terrible, and it hadn't even been put in the incubator!! But in your case with the heartbeat, I can understand why you got sick. Some things you're just better off not seeing :*(

You should see a wiggly black dot about the size of a beebee. If you go back a page or two on this post, I posted a video of one of my day 10 eggs :) By that time, they've become quite active!
I just waited until they fluffed up....for some it was just a couple of hours, others took longer (not sure why). We also had #7 when we woke up this morning! Another brown leghorn!
Wow! They're hatching like crazy here! We've had a total of 6 hatch today, and there's still three more eggs with pips!
Here's some pics :)
#6 - Barnevelder2 - Video of him hatching! I was so excited!

#5 Chocolate Orpington Bantam
Here's the...
Just got home and two of the Dominique chicks have hatched and one is already dry! Do I take the dry one out and put it in the brooder or wait?
Happy dance!!!!

This is my first time hatching and I've gone a little overboard....I have close to 100 eggs total and I'd say about 75% are moving along nicely. Not bad for mailed eggs from what I understand.
Hello everyone!
Our coop is still under construction, but coming along nicely! I'll post updates as the project continues...
Thanks for looking!

We started with a prebuilt 8x12 shed from Old Hickory Buildings:
Next, we purchased a vinyl flooring remnant, and sealed the edges. We...
