This worm was in the poop from one of my ducks and my ducks free range in the same places my chickens do!! Does anyone know what kind of worm it is? I know its not the greatest picture but it was the best I could do. Is there a specific wormer I need to start everyone on? Thanks so much for your...
Vickery, I think I started out with about 4 inches of sand and I also added a bag of Sweet PDZ to the sand. Every day when I sift the coop I sprinkle a bit more of the Sweet PDZ over the sand especially over any damp places.
Oh, so they're just a little over a year old! They're in their prime!! I had a friend tell me some of their hens stopped laying and they added some jalapeno juice (not the pickled kind) to their hens' water and within 2-3 days they were laying again... I guess it's the same concept as putting...
They are a little older so...yes, their egg production is going to decline somewhat but not to that extent. I would think the heat (definitely) and their short broody state probably has the most to do with it though. Chickens eat less when it's hot, therefore they don't get the protein and such...
I found a large metal scooper thing on the side of the road (I LOVE when I find cool stuff like that!!), brought it home and had my husband drill holes in it as well. I love it! Not sure what size drill bit he used though...the holes are about the size of my pinkie finger if that helps ;)
Thank you both so very much, yall don't know how much I appreciate the help more than you know! I have LOTS of coastal on hand but no wood shavings so I'll start with that. I don't mind cleaning the run out daily...I have KIDS!!! Yall have a SUPER BLESSED day!
Hi Amiga, I can't thank you enough for the advice! I've never heard of coconut coir so I'll most definitely check that out NOW! I agree...the duck water makes for an excellent organic compost/fertilizer! I've just never had so much wetness & poop & stink. I'm in central Texas and I think we've...
I'm SO glad I found this thread! We have 5 ducks and 2 geese and their run is stinking REALLY bad !! We've had an unusually high amount of rain over the last 3 - 4 weeks...that coupled with 2 broody geese and 1 broody duck who save their poops up for a couple of CRAZY MASSIVE, STINKY poops a...
Thank you so much for your help Wyandottes7! :) I'm assuming you're a fan of Wyandottes ;) I would love to add one or two to my flock...they are just beautiful! :)
Since we don't have any Bantams in our flock I was easy game when my boys wanted to pick up these 3 cuties while we were in TSC a few weeks ago. Although we have a couple of ideas on what they may be, we're still not positve so we're coming to the experts! My little phone plus a stormy day makes...
I'm so glad I found this thread! I've been contemplating using sand in our coop but haven't been sure what kind exactly to use. Thanks to everyone for always sharing your knowledge and wisdom!
Thank you all VERY much! I've looked at SO many different pics and every time I would think I knew what he was, I would see something else that resembled him! So I thought it was time to call in the experts!
Many Blessings To Yall!!
We took this guy in a few months ago from a friend of a friend. We were told he was used for fighting
so we were very happy to be able to rescue him from that life. I haven't been able to pin down what breed he is. Can anyone help me with that? Thank you so much and Many Blessings!

Thank you so much! Would you happen to know the genders by looking at them? The sweet couple we got them from told us the mostly grey one is female and the mostly white one is the male, however, my 13 y/o son came running in this morning saying he saw the "male" laying an egg!!??
Hello all! Can anyone tell me what kind(s) of geese these are? I may have to post 2 separate pics but here we go. Thank you so much in advance for any help anyone can give us. :)
