I had a lot of issues with my hens picking feathers from each other. I had many bare Bottomed chickens for a while. Try a "Flock Block". I get from an Agway. It is a one foot cube of seed. It will direct their attention to pecking at it instead of each other.

I found 2 shell-less eggs last night under their roost. They appeared to be form the same chicken. I turned on the light and the other chicken spounced on one of them and ate it.

I put mine in a cage inside the coup for over a month so that they would get used to each other. That was last year, they still get picked on.

I just lost a chick the other day and the common reply is "it just happens". Which makes it a little easier. If you do everything you can, temp, fresh water, food- then you don't have to feel guilty. "it just happens". Sorry about your chick, good luck with the rest!

I planted my garden in raised boxes today, finally. And I Spring cleaned my coup. Very productive day.

I think land mines strategicly placed around coup will be most effective. The biggest critter I have to worry about is my dog.
