    I usually don't mix in my chicks until they are big enough to defend themselves. Usually around 12 weeks but I have seen people mixing them sooner.

    Yeah they will work it out! At that age they are usually pretty tough and can take the cold to some degree but I wouldn't worry!

    They still may be to small right now to hold their own but as they get several weeks older they will work it out. Maybe put a heat lamp in the coop since they are outside of the coop?

    Dog kennels work great and minimize fire hazard. Just make sure the lamp is secure.
