Ducks are traumatized.
Fortunately they are better today. I let out when i got home from work.They played in a mud puddle and swam in their pool. They sure seemed spooky. I just put them away a few minutes ago. i will probably let them stay out longer tomorrow. -

The neighbors dog is gone now. They moved away on Sunday, the dog broke its cheap rope and instead of waiting for it to come ho m e they left. They came back after the damage was done. -

Sunday the neighbors dog killed six of my 12 ducks. The survivors are still trauamatized. All they do is sit in the corner of the coop. When i come in they just huddle together. They want no part of comming outside. Will they ever get over it? -

I feel bad posting a downer post. The neighbors' husky killed 5 ducks and one chicken. They were in the process of movung out and the dog brike its cheap rope. And instead of someone waiting to see if the dog would come back, they left the dog run free. So it killed 5 of my ducks and one... -

my two pekins are 6 weeks old today no quack yet. Beginning to think they both may be drakes. -

The pool is over flowing with ducks. I'm going to go to Walmart or meijer soon and get a bigger pool. -

I agree. Dont think its going to warm up much today. Only 32 degrees out. Supposed to warm up a little in a day or two. Poor things will have to wait. -

The weather has been crappy the last two days, temps in the 30's, and snow this morning. My poor 5 week old ducklings would love to get out of the coop. But i think it is too cold. What do you think? They have most of their feathers. And they have oil glands now. -

yes, I had one of my mallard ducklings that was about a third of the size of the others. I did everything I could for it. I feed it and gave it water and treats before the others and vitamins before the others. Sadly she passed away. I would try to give it as much extra food and vitamins as... -

I am amazed at how fast the pekins grow. They must weight at least a couple pounds already. They sure are clumsy. Poor things big bodies and big feet. -

I let the ducklings outside for the first time today. They eventually had fun and took a little bath. They are 4 weeks old tomorrow. I heard one doing a squeky quack, so at lest one hen. Hopefully more. They have feathers on the their bellies and getting a few wing feathers.[/IMG] -

My ducklings didnt arrive until Thursday, when i got them from Metzer's. I also added the grow gel and they arrived in good shape. Your ducklings should be fine. Good luck and let us know when they arrive. -

Questions about moving ducklings outside
i was going to put my 2 week old ducklings out into the outdoor coop today, but it was snowing and blowing, so i decided to wait another day. I would just worry all night. Supposed to be warmer in a couple days. Better safe than sorry. -
Is something wrong with my duckling?
I too have one of my mallards that is much smaller than the others. She eats and drinks and runs around fine. I guess she,i like to think it's a hen,will be fine.
