    Gold laced wyandottes 7 weeks

Do you have any insight on the 2 of mine? Are we still thinking boys? Also the smaller of the two has all of a sudden become really aggressive and has taken to plucking feathers and picking on birds that are even bigger that her/him. Not sure what that's about. But there are a few raw backs in...

    Gold laced wyandottes 7 weeks

Did you ever post pics of yours?? I've been on vacation and had little to no internet (scary I know right ) so I hope I didn't miss your post! I don't know why but out of all the breeds I have this one has been the trickiest to sex by far! It's almost like they know what they're doing and...

    Gold laced wyandottes 7 weeks

So sorry it's taken me so long to reply! I kept thinking I'd wait for something significant to happen, but really nothing ever did. I'm still as unsure as ever... or at least in denial as ever lol . Anyway they are now 11 weeks old. Still no crow, but there are definitely no longer any cute...

    Simple pecking? Warning graphic pic!

Do you know where I can find some examples of this or maybe pictures of these mini coops or boxes? Do I make them so small only she can fit in them? I would love to do this for her. I want to make sure she can keep her place in the flock. Also, would adding more smaller sized birds to the flock...

    Simple pecking? Warning graphic pic!

Those are great ideas! Thanks so much!! The blu kote will be great because she seems so miserable being kept away from the flock!

    Simple pecking? Warning graphic pic!

Hi all, I would very much love your input. We went on vacation for a week and had our neighbor's teenage daughter look after our animals. Very responsible, no reason to think she did anything but take the best care she knew how of our animals. For the chickens I pretty much just instructed her...

    Let's talk Golden Cuckoo Marans!

Oh good grief! I should have known! I mean they had tail feathers for goodness sake! But I was blinded by cuteness and by the fact that I'm new to this breed. I'm not really upset, it's not like it changes anything for me, but that particular store starts discounting chicks after a week and I...

    Let's talk Golden Cuckoo Marans!

Can anyone help me guess the age of my new babies? I picked them up yesterday at the store and forgot to find out the age. Today when I called to find out the employee said that's they're usually 1-3 days old but sometimes can be a week old -- yeah.. suuuuper helpful there!! Anyway here are a...

    Gold laced wyandottes 7 weeks

Yeah I had 8 as well, but a mixed flock. One very obvious Easter egger cockerel has been rehomed so now I'm down to 7. These were my only 2 wyandottes. They're such beautiful birds I really hope at least one turns out to be a hen. I look forward to your pictures! I love chick pics!!

    Gold laced wyandottes 7 weeks

This is exactly why I've been so hesitant to make the call on this one. I think I'm just going to sit tight and wait it out. Maybe post more pics in the coming weeks. They're really sweet birds so I'd love to be able to keep them. The first one, Rolo though I'm a bit worried that despite not...

    Gold laced wyandottes 7 weeks

Sad. 2 of 8 so far have been cockerels. Who knows what the final numbers will be. It just kills me because the store owner said "oh yeah.. every once in a while someone will get a rooster, but it really doesn't happen that often". Really?? My sister got chicks that day too and also ended up with...

    Gold laced wyandottes 7 weeks

I have two gold laced wyandottes that are now 7 weeks. One is quite larger than the other and is starting to get really rosy or red in the comb and waddle area. The thing that keeps me confused however, is that the two remain almost identical in feathering. And the one that I was starting to...

Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Oh my goodness! That's a lot of chicks! My boys would be in heaven! They keep asking me to get more this year since they know our number of hens are down now, but I've decided to wait until next spring. For reasons like yours and mine I've had it with feed stores! Mislabeled chicks! Both you and...

Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Oh no my mistake for not being clear. I meant that while originally I was a bit miffed that the kid at the feed store grabbed the black sex link instead of what I had asked for, I'm almost relieved now because it means I'm getting at least one good laying hen! Not to mention Hershey (the bsl)...

Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

I sure hope so about the girls. And you're right about peep! Like I said he's been roo from early on, I know it sounds crazy but I swear from late week 1/early week 2 I was pretty sure I was either dealing with a roo or the hen in charge. But I'll post those other pics just because show off...

Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Alright I know it's early by a lot of standards since my chicks are just a day shy of 4 weeks, but I swear I could tell one of them was a roo from week one. Lol! I would love it if you all could help confirm this (the roo thing not the week one thing ) because everyone around here thinks I'm...

Please help identify my mystery chick

Oh my goodness how did I not catch this??! I swear she didn't quite look like the chicks on google image and still didn't (kicking myself for not taking pictures of her little fluffy cuteness), but when I youtubed them... sure enough! Makes total sense. I am actually so relieved! My oldest son...

Please help identify my mystery chick

Hello everyone! I've been lurking around for awhile and telling myself I could figure this out on my own given enough time but I just can't take it any longer! A little background, we just built our dream home on acreage and we have 3 boys under the age of 10. Our dream was to homestead...
