I'm using this to try and make my own coop next spring because mine just isn't cutting it!
We have 6 hens and are getting 4 more this weekend (I know my DH already checked me into ChickenAholics Anonymous). We currently have 3 nestboxes and my wonderful carpenter DH is going to build more. Do I need one per chicken? I only have 2 girls laying right now as I only got them a week ago...
OK, what's the difference between a bantam and a standard? If I introduce a roo or two into my flock do I have to candle eggs before I can eat them, and if they have a chick in them do I have to put them in a bator or have the hens sit on them? How can I tell which hens are laying and which...
OK Well I have 6 girls and I may be getting 2 roos here soon. Hopefully I will be getting more girls at an auction this weekend so hopefully the roos will be ok. Do I need to worry about them fighting?
OK! Like I said i'm not too worried about getting babies I just wanted to make sure my girls wouldn't pick on him or anything and that he would take care of them like roosters supposedly do....
I will be picking up a Bantam (not sure what breed) Roo tomorrow...but I have 6 standard size hens..will this work?! I don't really want babies right now (if we get them that's ok though!) But if he were to breed with my hens what would the outcome be? Can he even breed with my girls?
LOL Ok! I am going to take everyones input to heart...my husband asked me if the girls were going to start crowing and I said no. He told me he can't wait to hear them crow....huh ugh...lol
