So I had three hens that all died of Marecks. The funny thing about that disease is that it manifests itself in all sorts of ways. In one chicken, she stopped producing eggs and barely digested her food and barely had any poo on the roost for the last week of her life. After the necropsy, we...
Hello:
I'm the other caretake of the original poster's 10 month EE. She is starting to become lethargic throughout the day. She nods off as she is standing up and then sits down to rest a lot. Her lethargic behavior is worrisome. I sprayed the birds and the roost with permethrin today in case...
My EE is going through the same symptoms. She used to lay but then got sick and then started laying soft shell eggs. Now she is OK but not laying and has poops exactly like your photo. She also has a lot of broken feathers and is underweight compared to the other ones. ANy idea what was...
I just spoke to the poultry person at Biocide-the company that makes Oxine. He told me that activated oxine is not fda approved. However he has a lot of poultry people telling him that the activated version misted over live poultry has helped a lot of respiratory issues in his clients chickens...
Please take a look at this poo. It's bright orange and red and she hasn't eaten any fruit today. Should I be concerned? It felt like intestinal lining but I can't account for the orange.
1) Buff Orpington 8 months old
2) Orange and red poo. Tried to lay an egg three times today and hasn't...
That is what the vet recommends. We have her on some meds but if nothing improves by Mon or Tuesday, that's our plan. However the vet isn't 100% sure it's cholera so that's what the meds are for- in case it's something else.
It's just that I've seen other postings about people using other...
I took my 5 month old RIR to the vet yesterday. The vet said she most likely has fowl cholera. We have her on some antibiotics (Clavamox) and anti-immflamatory meds but the doc said that her chances of survival are only 20% She already was on a round of sulfa antibiotics but they didn't help...
This chicken is not eating too well nor is she drinking much. Her waddle, comb and face are puffy. I'm taking her to the vet today...
Thanks for the responses.
Possibly...? She has other blood marks on her wattle and comb. I looked at the other girls' legs and I think they might have scaley leg mites...but no one else is biting at their legs except this one.
Please help. My 5.5 month RIR just had fowl pox, respiratory illness, antibiotics and was getting pecked and now is scratching her own legs. Can you take a look at the photos of her legs and let me know what it might be? It's irritating her so she's pecking at it so much that it's bloody...
I just saw this as I was researching chicken diarrhea. Sorry no one wrote back and also that your rooster died. Did you necropsy them?
I also have a chicken who is going through some respiratory things- she sneezes, coughs, sounds congested and sometimes has spit around her mouth and she...
Oh they are actually all better except one hen who is still recovering. She went through two days of lethargy and was picked on so we hand fed her and put Pick-no-more on her. Her behavior seems normal now. Thanks for asking!
