If you hit all of the problem spots it would be a one time kill off. I always check back to make sure there were no survivors. If there are no eggs and no buggers you are in the clear.
So sorry to hear of the cake incident
You are correct stryker, just a spray will do. Summertime is easy as the oil stays liquid at 78 degrees. Fall and Winter is tricky as you need to keep that oil free flowing.
We all are here to learn from each other. I had never combined the dust...
If you only spray them with the VCO close to their skin there is nothing to shake off. They aren't being bathed in it. Dusting on top of the oil will cause the oil to be soaked up into the dusting material and may not offer all the coating destruction one would desire.
Once the lice are...
I would just apply the VCO and see how that works. It starts melting their exoskeletons along with the egg casements on contact. I would think VCO and any kind of dust (Sevin or DE) would only lead to caked up birds. A few days after the vco is absorbed into their skin let them dust away.
All those little boogers need to do is to touch the VCO and that part of their body will start melting away. If you spray again work from the far outside in a circular motion around the vent so the majority left have no escape.
Hope this helps :)
You did a great job. It's a terrible horrible...
Virginia snake strikes again! Found my 3 year BCM hen struggling to walk 3 days ago. Yesterday she couldn't walk at all. Researched to see if she had Mareks but decided no way. This morning a friend was over and by the long chicken run was a well decomposed 5+ foot black snake. Best guess...
As I was picking up shoes this morning I remembered this hysterical "blending in" House chicken moment a few years back.
I must have passed her several times that morning w/o noticing
Charlie. . . what a love, overall ham and still our dog's best play pal.
Taco would NEVER jump on our kitchen counter . . . but my dog did once. She would fly up to the book shelf filled with stuffed animals and nestle herself in between two of them (just like ET did in the closet scene).
She was such a joy and brought smiles and love to so many people. We were...
She has lice. I don't know if castor oil will dissolve the lice exoskeleton or eggs. I know (VCO) coconut oil will quickly. Kills everything at once like like throwing water on the wicked witch.
