Suspect Respiratory Infection. VetRx or Tylan 50 or something else.

She seems to be doing better. This morning she drank quite a bit of water. Tonight, she's eating dried meal worms, egg yolk, and bread soaked in olive oil. Still hearing the whistling noise (for lack of a better word) when she breaths out her nostrils. I dipped the VetRx solution on the...

Suspect Respiratory Infection. VetRx or Tylan 50 or something else.

Well, here's what her stool looks like. The image is a tad yellow but the poop is a yellow color just not as dramatic as the photo. Her breathing was raspier so I went ahead and put the VetRx on her nostrils and wattles.

Suspect Respiratory Infection. VetRx or Tylan 50 or something else.

The vets around here won't deal with chickens at all. Also, she hasn't had a bowel movement since I isolated her. I can call tomorrow and check but I'm just wondering if it would be better to just worm her as soon as I can get the medicine. I'm hoping Tractor Supply has the ones you...

Suspect Respiratory Infection. VetRx or Tylan 50 or something else.

The one eye shut was an indicator I thought due to swelling of the sinus. There's a slight bubbling noise when she breathes through the nose. What's the best wormer if she won't eat or drink? I'll have to dose the other 4 as well. Thanks.

They've never been wormed. Never noticed anything to indicate worms.

Suspect Respiratory Infection. VetRx or Tylan 50 or something else.

A have a hen who is 2.5 years old. Yesterday she was lethargic, laying under the ramp to the coop. Today, I found her there again but she is keeping her right eye closed. She won't move, eat or drink. Ive tried scrambled egg and bread soak in olive oil. Ive dipped her beak in water and when...

Is this chicken just molting or something worse?

OK, thanks folks. I gave them all some scrambled eggs with flax meal and some dried mealworms. She's eating and drinking ok. I picker her up to try to check her out and she made one hell of a fuss screeching and kicking. So I let her be. They don't like to get picked up but they don't...

Is this chicken just molting or something worse?

My Barred Rocks are almost 2 years old. They've never really lost a lot of feathers at any given time. So when this hen started to lose hers I got concern. This morning, she was stumbling around like she was drunk and squatting like a duck. She's somewhat better with that now but still doing...

Tractor supply wood chips for litter?

I came here looking for the same thing. It boggles my mind that they don't indicate the type of wood used. I was guessing it was scrap so it could be a mixture. I've been buying the all Aspen shavings from TSC at nearly twice the price. I guess if this stuff is working for everyone then I'll...

Building Chicken Coops for Dummies pg 263 Roost

Hi, I cut most of the parts out for this roost but then realized the highest roost is much lower than I need. I like this design but want to make the back roost higher without having to raise the front bar. I'm guessing this involves cutting the uprights at different angles but I have no idea...

What is going on here? (Pic included)

Quote: Yes, I do. I didn't start it until after the others started laying. But they've got it now. I have no idea if these are from the same chicken. I have 7 hens and I got 5 good eggs max a day, until today when I got six. So, I'm thinking this is just begginer issues.

What is going on here? (Pic included)

So my girls were hatched in January '10 and most started laying in the middle of May '10. I get anywhere from 2 to 5 eggs a day from seven of them. The other night I go into the room the chickens are in and I hear this dripping sound. I turn on the flashlight and one hen is leaking from her...

Egg bound or Internal laying or something completely different?

I wish you luck! I'm following this to see how she does. It always good to read these types of things. I am always paranoid that my chickens are sick or injured. Anything remotely odd sends me into a panic! I'm new to this. Got my first chicks in January and the started laying a few weeks...

Need nonstandard human size door ideas

I need a door aproximately 70 inches in height for the exterior human door of my coop. I believ most standard doors come in at a minimum of 80 inches. I need something that can seal out teh cold of our northern winters. Any ideas? Could I cut a door down that much? Thanks.

    Injury vs Marek's?

Well, she managed to dig a big hole in the yard and dust bathe herself. She was using the injured foot to kick up dust. I took her out of the hole to see what was up and she refuesed to stand. After some time she stood up. Limp seems better but it hard to tell. I think I'll still isolate...

    Injury vs Marek's?

Now, she's panting. I let her out to be with the other today but I have put her back in isolation for the night with diluted asiprin water. How fast does this progress if it is Marek's?
