    Quick Question about Coop Size

Hey All! I am a new owner of 6 chicks! 3 EE's and 3 Red Stars. They are 4 weeks old and we are in the process of getting their run/coop together. We recently ran across a deal for a large wooden dog house. I haven't seen it yet, but the measurements are 3'1" H 4'9" L 3'7" W- would this be big...

My chicks moved outside- are they okay?

Thanks everyone!! I went out to check on them this morning, and they were just fine. They were huddled together, but I am thinking it's fine with the lamp- and temps are supposed to be in the mid-70's today. Ahhh --- relief!!!!

Are they cold??? Just moved them to garage! nervous nelly here again..

I am having the same issue. Went from our loft to our shed. They are all laying in a little pile under the lamp, but not so much that they look cold and uncomfortable. I guess we'll have to wait and see in the morning! I have 6 that just turned 3 weeks, and are starting to feather a little, so I...

My chicks moved outside- are they okay?

We moved our babes outside today since the freezes are probably over. 6 of them, are now in a dog crate in our shed. They are 3 weeks old. I hope they will be okay. They were making a HUGE mess inside and making lots of noise. Woke me up several times last night, so I had had it. I put their...

    Dogs and Chickunz.

Thanks, all. I have definitely noted your advice and will be keeping her from them! They will be in a pen outside, so she won't be able to get to them. (as long as everything goes as planned) No dog around the chicks!! Thanks again!

    Dogs and Chickunz.

So, our cocker/yorkie mix is obsessed with our brooder. She sits by the chicks all day, tries to get up and smell them all day. If she is downstairs with us, and hears a loud peep upstairs, she is gone in an instant, wondering what they are up to. When we do take the chicks out, she sits by us...

I have had my first ever chickies for 4 days now. 6 of them, 3 red stars and 3 EE's. They are all doing really great! I am attending a...

    Cleaning the brooder?

Mine are only 3 days old, but I have been putting paper towels on top of the pine shavings. I just remove the paper towels every morning and put new ones down. Pretty easy. I have 6 in there. I may have to start doing something different as they get bigger, though. The newspaper thing is a good...
