    Only feathers and no chicken

We figured that out today. We found a very small hole dug under the fence with a few feathers on the other side. We will be fixing the automatic chicken door very soon. It was hit by lightening a month ago, and have been lucky up until now. Thanks for the help!

    Only feathers and no chicken

I could maybe see a racoon or weasel doing this, but how could it get the chicken out without any traces of blood or getting any feathers anywhere else? The inside of the coop looked like the chicken exploded, there were feathers EVERYWHERE. But, outside there little door there was nothing.

    Only feathers and no chicken

This morning I went out to my coop and found a huge amount of feathers, and one less chicken. The feathers were only in the coop, but not one feather in the fenced in pen. Our coop is surrounded by chicken wire, stone wall, and has a netting over the top. There were no traces of blood...

Thanks! Anyone else want to show off theirs? Also wondering if it is not conected to a hose, and your just filling the large conatiner, is there a issue about the water staying fresh? We are not so concerned about keeping the water defrosted, it would mostly be used in the summer. We...

    Southern chickens chicken about snow

On New Years eve we got a very quick two inches of snow. My chickens were all in the front yard when it started and stayed close to the house were there was no snow. I couldn't get them to move, they refused to step on the snow, and one was completely missing. Finally I had to shovel a path...

Rabbit hutch ?? Any one use?

We started with a Rabbit Hutch that was given to us. We started to modify it, and got a little out of hand with it. We made it into a little house, it was perfect for our first 2hens. We have grown since then to 16 chickens. I had to share a couple pictures of our "rabbit hutch" turned...

Remember to Adjust Your Auto Chicken Door Timer (pics)

Thanks! I have never heard of this, and we are going away for a week in July, it may be just what we need. We can have someone check on the chickens daily, but I just worry about having to ask them to open the door in the morning and close it at night. I don't like to ask to much. My...

    tractor supply

The quailty/health was not the issue with us. We were just new to the "chicken raising" and was not able to get any help at the store. We also were told simply that they were pullets when asked what breed. So new to chickens we just said ok, but within a week knew that was not a breed. Even...

    Hens or Roosters?

I can actually bring them both back. He was very nice, and really cared for these chickens, so he doesn't mind. Like I said I just don't want another angry rooster. I always laughed when people would tell me they had a bad rooster, now I know what they mean. Eponagirl, I see you are from...

    Hens or Roosters?

Ok. They are all in with the older roosters and hens and everyone is getting along very well. I kept them seperate for a couple days. I don't mind the having the xtra rooster, I just don't want to become attached and have to give it away. I had a beautiful NH red rooster that we raised last...
