    Lavender orpington

He likely won’t crow until he’s settled in. But some cockerels take longer to crow than 5 months, and I’ve had cocks that barely ever crow too. I believe I do see some pointed saddle feathers which would indicate it is in fact a cockerel.

Selling chicks, best way to run it, and get the word out?

I’m currently a vet assistant and am in college to pursue a career as a veterinarian. I’m a sucker for “special animals”, I’m always taking in all the chicks with deformities and issues. They may need extra care and love, but if they can have a happy life I’ll support them every way I can...

Chickens died yesterday- can we process tonight?

How does that accidentally happen? Haha! But I would think that they would be okay to process. Some people will only process immediately, but there are some who will process if it’s only been a few days. Have they been refrigerated in the meantime? That’s very important.

Again it would be helpful to know the cause of death.

Selling chicks, best way to run it, and get the word out?

Keep in mind some states have laws prohibiting selling under a certain amount of chicks. Like here in New York you cannot sell under 6 chicks at a time.

Is it safe to take my pet silkie to the park with horness?

As long as he is acclimated to the harness and used to going to places, I think it would be a great experience. I’ve had a house chickens that I took everywhere with me, he actually seemed to enjoy seeing new places and exploring. On Instagram there’s an account called bluff the crossbeak, and...

Vacation- leave coop door open at night?!

Don’t you know anyone at all that would be willing to come by and check up on them and give them fresh water ect? Whenever we go away we have family or a friend care for our birds. It’s important for them to have fresh water every day. How many chickens do you have and how large is your coop?

    Worst day

This is something we’ve been aware of for a while. He’s okay with them but you have to right there next to him the entire time. But left alone is not good. He’s a terrier mix, so he has a very strong prey drive. This is one of the many reasons why we keep them mostly penned and we have an...

    Worst day

Today has been the worst day in a long time. I’ve really gotten into breeding and showing and now have pens set up for all my birds that I’ve worked so hard on. These are also some of the friendliest ones I’ve ever had and raised, I love going out with them to cuddle! For the past year I’ve...

HELP! Just got a new city backyard flock of 7 chicks 3 months ago, and 2 are cockerels! What do I do?!

Actually there’s nothing wrong with eating fertilized eggs. And although some roosters can become aggressive, most are total sweethearts! I would definitely look into rehoming. It’s your responsibility to look out for them, since you purchased them knowing that you are not allowed any...

    2 month old chicks mating

Males often mount one another, sometimes it’s just a dominance thing, similar to dogs.

Im so confused about my turkey

I’m not sure about the gobbling, but it’s somewhat common for hens to grow beards as well. If it is in fact laying eggs, it’s definitely a hen. As for soft eggs, they happen sometimes but I would make sure she’s getting enough calcium. Do you have any pictures of this turkey in question? That...

Is it safe to dye a bunny with manic panic hair dye

From what I’ve read, although it’s one of the most gentle and natural dyes, Manic Panic should not be used on your animal, simply because they were not designed for that purpose and may still contain chemicals that are not great for your pet.

Is it safe to dye a bunny with manic panic hair dye

You should have researched before what is and is not safe to use. They even make dyes specifically for pets, many also use beet juice as a safe alternative. If your rabbit is acting ill, it should be seen by a vet immediately. Rabbits are very sensitive and go downhill quickly.

Anyones dog every have diarrhea this bad?

It’s incredibly important to vaccinate dogs, not just rabies, but distemper ect. Also parvo is extremely contagious. If your other dogs have had contact with him and are not vaccinated, it’s just about a guarantee that they will all get it too. I hope next time you make sure to vaccinate all...

    Rabbits in with birds

No way. Also rabbits need a lot more care than many are led to believe. I think they’re just as much work as a dog or cat. I’d recommend watching Lennon the bunny on YouTube if you really plan on housing it at all.
