That probably sounds funny, but I've never had them and am considering getting some. My chicken coop door, where they would go to eat etc. is about 12 x 12 - my big muscovy's make it in but of course bend over. Runners are so upright... can the stoop? do they need a taller door.?
My muscovy duck has been on my turkey's eggs for 28 days and they (some) are hatching... one got squished. I am thinking I should take them to a broody pen instead of leaving them with her because I just don't think she will keep them warm enough and there may likely be issues with water and so...
My two girls have laid a zillion eggs and one is broody now. It would sure be nice to slip a couple fertilized ones under if anyone has a few they would part with.

Ok.. poor mom, WIERD HATCH. about 38 days. One hatched sunday, one Monday, one WED.. She did this in the chicken coop in a hen nest off the floor. When I got home today (wed) I KNEW I would remove her .. poor thing hasn't been off the nest. She was STANDING in the nest (oh and four days ago...
Oh sheesh... I have had great muscovy hatches. 2 hens and a drake on site. Cinnamon sat well over 35 days on 12 eggs and they all rotted and none hatched and I finally took her off.
Marge has been setting for at least 37 days (I know that's within the realmof their setting time. But.. I could...
not nice and tucked in like they should be. poults are five days old. seem to be eating/drinking, but crops not very full. anything I can do about the two with the wierd looking wings? is this normal?
UPDATE MAY 3 - it is worse.. two of them like this. Cause? solution? Here are photos
this is with turkey poults, but I was thinking more folks might view this and have experience with the problem, as I think it also happens with chicks. Will they "grow out" of it?
they are five days old.
I need a replacement for my chicken tractor and although the cube is expensive, I MIGHT go for it, but worry about babies climbing the ladder up. The smaller original Eglu might also work, but I'd love to hear from someone who has one. I use this for chicks, Standard birds who might need to be...
Hagrid is Dumbledore's son and is a great guy, but he and Dumbledore fight. He has a slight chip on his beak, but his "bloodlines" are great. Dumbledore has won several reserve best of breeds.

I mean.. he is so big! not like handling a chicken. It is about the size of the end of my finger and very swollen ... looks like something that might need to be lanced? I have no idea what to do -
Put him in a sep pen and begin antibiotics? wait it out? HELP!
lots of water tonight - I tipped him over and it ran out like a water bottle. He is also hoarse and seemed to be trying to clear himself.
ideas? thoughts?
Well, I had hoped to have "Hagrid" be able to take over for Dumbledore who is now five (Dumbledore is a standard blue cochin, huge, and has won several reserve best of breed, etc.). Hagrid is absolutely the spitting image of him. But they are fighting with each other and I owe a peaceful life...
breathing hard - Put her in crate (found her just before dark) . this a.m. she is sort of sitting up. I'm wondering - she is REALLY heavy.. crop problem? egg bound? caused her to fall off roost and hurt her leg? I'm wondering what to do about this.
she is due to hatch next week, and is setting in the woods :o - although pretty secluded. she will not even take offered bread and I have not seen her off nest once. I always manage to see my hens several times off nest. I know turkeys are much more stealthy and so on. anyone have any...
