    February 2020 Hatch-A-Long

I got broody after my first time incubator hatch. I just couldn't help myself and I ordered some random eggs from Meyer Hatchery. They will be here next week and I am so excited! I know I have seen other posts about an addiction to hatching eggs. It may become a problem for me. :wee:jumpy:D

Can't wait to hatch more eggs!

We hatched our first group eggs and got 5 Light susses and 1 bantam cochin. I had so much fun hatching that I am having a hard time waiting until after our vacation in April to hatch some more. I totally see why it can be so addicting to hatch.

    Blue Cochin Mix Feather Regrowth.

When we first got SweetPea, she was part of a little flock of Cochin's and cochin mixes. She had some of her feathers pulled out by our dog and lost many from the Rooster's love making. We put a chicken saddle on her and over the past few weeks we have seen some great new feather growth. I...

    Excited for our First Incubation

We are incubating our first group of eggs. We started 2 cochin eggs a week ago and then added 3 more cochin eggs and 8 Light Sussex eggs. We candled our first 2 eggs yesturday and we were so excited to see our first baby chick. The picture isn't the greatest but all of the kids and I were so...

    When will chicks/pullets fully integrate?

We introduced our 7/8 week pullets in with our flock because we had a surprise cold snap and I wanted to make sure the young ones were warm enough. They have been in a separate coop and run next to the main coop. We placed them in at night and the adults are tolerant at night time. During the...

Do I still need heat for my 6 week old chicks?

I have 2 EE chicks that are about 3 weeks off from being put in with the flock. We have been keeping a heat lamp on them at night because our nights are getting down in the Mid 20's to mid 30's. I am wondering if we still need to keep the heat on them or would it be best to turn it off so they...

    Silly Chicken

About 2 weeks ago we picked up some EE chick and have now moved them into an intermediate coop so they can finish growing before integrating them into our little flock. We have placed this coop & run next to our other coop to allow the older chickens to get used to the newbies. Our Black...

Mottled Cochin Bantam Roo - Mt Pleasant, UT

I am looking for a new home for our Mottled Cochin Bantam. He is mild and has the crazies crow. He sounds like a dinosaur. He is wonderfully fluffy. 20190919_171215 by MPchicks posted Sep 21, 2019 at 2:03 PM20190919_171215 by MPchicks posted Sep 21, 2019 at 2:03 PM[/GALLERY]

I was adding some media and saw a place to view my albums. I wanted to create an album and I can't see a button or anything to create an album. Can you point me in the right direction or is this a membership perk?

    Adopted Chickens

Our neighbors got some chickens earlier this year but, they decided it was a little too much for them to handle. They asked us if we wanted them. We are still making plans for Sussex chickens in the spring but, we are super excited to have this cute little group. I could use some help for the...

    7 Fluffy Chickens

Our neighbors got these chickens from someone they knew about 5 months ago. Just recently they gave them to us because they didn't have enough time to take care of them and we were planning on getting some of our own anyway. I think they are Orpingtons. Would love to have any insights on...

    Getting Ready for Sussex Chickens

Hi my name is Ruth. My two oldest daughters, 12 & 14 are getting ready to have chickens. We have decided on the Sussex breed because we think they are absolutely beautiful, I am excited about the egg production and my daughters want a relatively docile breed that they can train. We are starting...
