This duckling hatched at 3am this morning but is still attached to everything via the umbilical cord. Should I cut it or let it dry up on its own and is there anything else I can do to help??
Hey y'all, need some advice (again)
I'm pretty sure a bunch of the egg goop that comes with hatching never really un attached from this duckling and now it’s dried up on his backside. Should I let it be and see if it falls off or treat it like pasty but and try removing it???
My main worry is...
Two duck eggs yet to hatch who are around day 28. One of the eggs has been heavily cracked since I first found it on day 14 and I can’t tell if it’s internally piped yet or not, the other doesn't seem to be moving much and I’m wondering if the duckling might be malpositioned.
Egg 1 (cracked...
Hey y’all, it’s been awhile. Once again I have a question regarding a hatching duckling. Here’s some background:
My duck was sitting on some eggs for around two weeks when we decided we had to move her due to other unrelated issues. I put the duck eggs in an incubator but unfortunately the...
Hey everybody! Hope you’re all doing well, let me go ahead and start you of with some background Info. I tend to have a lot of luck reviving weak chicks, so the last couple of times I’ve visited my local tractor supply to purchase some silkies, I ended up coming home with a few free “problem...
I have a duckling that piped on the narrow side of the egg about 36 hours ago. It’s been incredibly silent and just spit up A LOT of bubbly yellow liquid.
It’s been a little over 24 hours since this duckling piped. When it piped it never broke the membrane and was completely silent. I was worried it wasn’t getting enough air so I broke the membrane for it and it seemed to be doing fine. All the shell that you see missing from the egg is my doing...
Is that an unabsorbed yolk sack? What should I do! I’ve seen a lot of images of unabsorbed yolk sacks and I don’t think that’s what it is but I really have zero clue. It just sort of looks like her navel is raised and out or something. Has it just not closed yet?
It pipped on the wrong side of the egg this morning and when I went to check on it again this afternoon, I could see it’s beak but it looked like it was drinking or something. I tried to open up the egg some more to see what was going on, but I still can’t tell. Is the chick drowning...
Chick just hatched and looked healthy during the hatching period but came out with some yellow goop. I’m not sure if it has yolk sac infection or not and have no clue what to do to help.
This is my first time incubating chicken eggs and I’m really struggling in the candling aspect. I tried candling one my eggs today that’s on day 14 of incubation but couldn’t see anything except darkness and the air sack. The egg’s shell is blue, but I’m not completely sure that’s the problem. I...
