Can you get Gamebird starter? If not I have heard Chris on Slightly Rednecked YouTube say that you could increase the protein by adding dry cat food to the chick starter.
I am no expert or anything like it. Just started raising Coturnix quail myself but I was wondering how many hours of daylight do they get? From everything I have read and heard they need 12 to 14 hours of light to lay consistently. So you might think about that. I have seen where people used...
I have 35 3 1/2 week old chicks and I have already had to buy my second bag of starter (50 pounds) so a 50 lb. bag is cheaper than buying smaller amounts. They will go through the feed because they are still growing and need all the nutrition they can get.

I built a brooder from Terry’s design on YouTube Coturnix Corner and it is working great for the 36 one week olds I have in there now. It has trays that catch the poop and I have pine shavings that I got for free from a cabinet maker lining the tray.
I know that this is off subject but I would love to see pictures of your cages when completed. I am a fairly newbie so I don’t have any experience in this matter but will follow. I have 60 eggs in my homemade incubator now with less than a week to lockdown.
