    6-week old Black Australorp

I’m glad I was correct. It’s really tough to gauge gender based off comb and wattles on a BA. I had a feeling your girl was going to end up with a large comb and obviously she has one. One of mine has a big comb like yours and she is also my boss hen out of 15 chickens of 5 different breeds. She...

    Red light bulb

Here is my brooder. It uses zero electricity and no risk of a fire. It also does the feeding, watering and flock integration. It prevents the dreaded pasty butt and is completely hands off from the moment you begin usage till the chicks are grown up. Best of all I only paid 2.99 for it. In all...

It looks like a pullet to me.

    Something Got in Our Run

I’m also guessing it was a dog. Predators usually kill for food, a dog will kill for the fun of doing it. I would put up some type of game camera if possible so you know what you are dealing with. Whatever it is will most likely come back for more.

    Purple feet and bumblefoot

It’s capsules. You could mix with a little water and administer it orally. Chickens can aspirate easily so getting her to drink from a syringe could be a challenge. Mixing with food she likes would be the better way if she willingly eats it. I would get the lower dosage in the 50 quantity.

    My chicken ate candy corn!

While I wouldn’t recommend giving as treats, there isn’t anything in one piece of candy corn that would be harmful to your chicken.

    Purple feet and bumblefoot

I would crush it and mix with something like yogurt if she will eat that.

    Purple feet and bumblefoot

That link you provided is what you need. Dosage is 57mg per pound every 12 hours.

    Baby chicks and fly Larvae?

I don’t do treats very often but mine have always went nuts over Farmers Helper Baby Cake.

    Bloody mucus poop baby chick

It would take an extremely high amount of Corid to overdose them. I would continue with the 3/8 teaspoon dosage and not think of going down. I have had 2 batches of chicks with Cocci and used the same dosage as you are using. In both cases it fixed the issue and those chicks are as healthy as...

    Opinions on Chicken Water Setups

I usually get 3-4 weeks on 30 gallons and clean it before refilling. My drums are dark blue, white or clear would promote algae growth and need more maintenance.

    Undersized Chicks at 18 Weeks

I would definitely get the Nutri Drench as suggested above. It is loaded with vitamins that typically assists with issues like the one you currently have. I would also check the date code on any bag of feed you purchase. I have seen several at my local Tractor Supply that were over a year old...

    Opinions on Chicken Water Setups

I have a 30 plastic drum that I use with horizontal nipples. I also have a couple of 15 gallon drums for feeders. I would think the 15 gallon size would be great for your flock. I got the drums from a local place that sells them. Mine were food grade and they were used for Dr. Pepper syrup. I...

    6-week old Black Australorp

I really think it’s a pullet. I have 3 BA hens and they all had wattles by that age too. The tail feathers look like a pullets and those legs are tiny for a BA roo.

Whose egg is it anyway? (Pic heavy)

That’s got to be one of the Comet’s. I’m guessing Cece. I have three and they were all laying by week 17. The egg also looks like the ones my Comets laid when they first started. They should get darker and bigger in a about a week.

    Starter grower pellet size

Hi East TN neighbor! I had a Wyandotte chick recently who had some swallowing issues and I had to grind the chick starter for her to be able to consume it. I had an inexpensive Hamilton Beach coffee grinder that would grind it down in about 3 seconds. If you have to grind their starter down this...

Help! Chicken Run with plastic coop

I would also frame the run to be self supported and not rely on the plastic coop to help hold it up. This shouldn’t put much pressure on the coop and work out well.

Help! Chicken Run with plastic coop

Drill holes through the plastic and run where you want to attach it. Secure it with stainless steel bolts and use large washers on the plastic side. You could also rip a 1/2 thick piece of plywood and use that as a backplate over the plastic where the bolts would attach if you want a stronger...

    4 months into chicken farming

That definitely sounds like coccidiosis as already stated above. I would start dosing with Corid ASAP. Tractor Supply carries it if there is one in your area or a local farm supply store should have it as well. Dosing with Corid won’t harm the chicks if it turns out to be something else but I...
