Top beak broken off at tip. Disease? Just got them last night.

My only question is why all three of the blacks ones are this way? The two bantams are fine with no beak issues.

Top beak broken off at tip. Disease? Just got them last night.

Just got these 3 hens. He called them black rambler pullets. Also got two bantam hens. All three black ones have this issue to a degree with the worst being about a 1/4 of bottom beak sticking past upper beak. If you zoom in on pic, you can see the white of lower beak and black top part of upper...

Can you rinse chicken eggs or lightly rub them under water prior to incubating?

The reason I ask this is because the eggs i want to hatch are coming from a flock that may have scaly leg mites and I don't want the hatching chicks to get them. If possible, I would rather be over cautious than not if I can rinse them and lightly rub them to rinse away any possible mites.

Hatching eggs from a flock with possible scaly leg mites. Got a few questions

True on eggs not being a suitable host. But wife said she read they can live a long time without food. Fleas and ticks can live a long time without food so that was the reason for concern.

My brothers flock may have scaly leg mites. Their legs on some of the hens have crusty growths with some bleeding on a couple of them. He didn't know what it was til I researched it last week and I am pretty sure that is what it is. I want to hatch eggs from the flock. I want to know if the...

Chicks and ducklings won't dry in incubator

I have two incubators running. Had 24 duck eggs only in #1 and then had 48 chicken eggs with 22 duck eggs (a lot for a n1602 hovabator lol) in #2. The #1 incubator i had going one week ahead of #2 so the duck eggs from #1 were due to hatch at same time as chicken eggs from #2. So at lockdown I...

    Hydrogen Peroxide on eggs?

We had a duck egg explode this morning in the incubator, should we clean the eggs with a peroxide solution? If so, please advise what ratio and what to do as far as cleaning. If not peroxide, what should we use to clean the eggs? We are in day 16 in the incubation period.

Had a duck egg explode this morning.

We are hatching duck eggs in a hovabator 1602 still air incubator and are on day 16 and had one explode this morning. I couldn't do anything with it since I had to go to work, so my son got the egg out and cleaned most of it up where the egg was. I need to finish cleaning the incubator up and...
