Failures in late incubation *Graphic Eggtopsy photos*

I’ve had nothing but hatching issues this year... I’m doing something wrong. About a quarter didn’t hatch due In this last batch due to what I believe were malpositions. They died just after day 18. I had candled them at day 17 and they were all alive. What could be the issue?

incubator stats:
2014 Dicky’s cabinet
ran a pretty steady temp. around 99.5-100 100.2 was the highest recorded temp.
I usually dry hatch, we are pretty humid where we live. Humidity was in the 20s I know it’s low but I have been incubating Marans eggs too and they do better dry hatching.
What could be my issue? What can cause malpositions? See below pictures...

Most definitely fat end up! And they are in an automatic turner. I see it turn occasionally so I know it’s working.
It was sad to open them up but I need to know what was wrong so it won’t happen again. On the bright side, I raw feed my dogs and they were very happy to have an afternoon snack. (Don’t worry, the dogs are totally fine with live chicks/chickens)

Go into lockdown 4 days before hatch day. I found the extra day without turning helps them have time to get in position.

I thought they get into position well before day 18? There would be no room to move into a different position... now I have to go read up on when they move into position...

I was told to put the Marans eggs in lockdown a day or 2 late.
This is the first time I’ve been told to do it early.

I reckon I'll give this a go next with my Modern Game Bantams. I got heaps of malposition with them, but nearly all managed to hatch with help. Might even try another day earlier for half of them... See how it goes.
