Well out of I think three of her own eggs. She has only hatched out one. Who has turned out to be a rooster and it turns out he looks just like her, as far as barring is concerned. Who knows if in maturity he will pick up any of the traits of his father in his orange coloring
In case anybody was wondering here's one offspring, looks just like the mother is far as barred patterning. The rest of these chicks are from different hens
1- probably a pullet, 2- im thinking this may be a young rooster. The quicker feathering and pointy comb is what makes me think roo, but could well be a pullet. and 3 - yea, looks like a rooster. Just my guesses, by no means an expert.
I was sold this rooster and this hen as genetic hackle, the hen came from a mom that looked just like her which was in a pen with very light, Almost White male roosters with thin black barring. The rooster is admitted Maybe 25 to 75% genetic hackle. What would their chicks look like certain...
Adding a photo of the MF duccle cross babies here maybe that'll help understand the roosters coloring?
I realize now maybe this is better suited for genetics/color subforum. Feel free to move it (admin) thank you.
Heres my Rooster (Handsome Henry) and Hen (Grey) that both (supposedly) carry genetic hackle genes. The one who I got them from admitted the Rooster was atleast 1/2-3/4 but had some crossing in his lineage but im very happy with his coloring and especially his demeanor. No problems with the wife...
Thankfully not had problems with my chickens or babies, but I watched a raven destroy a nearly full grown mockingbird, peck the head and eyes until it was dead, then carry it off. All happened within 20' of me. This was less than 1/4mi from my home.
Hi everyone, thank you in advance. Just wanted to try and identify what type of mites I'm facing with my chickens. Fortunately I have a small flock but healthy, and it have some littles that I must get to grow out. (Genetic hackle bird)
I have Permethrin 10 and would like to know how others...
Seems I have a new hen in the same condition with a scab over the left eye. Is iodine in the eye bad? Just checking in this before administering treatment.
Also I have (non-pain relief) triple antibiotic ointment available for treatment as well..
Hi these are my first chickens hatched easter, so less then a year old. So im new to all this.
Someone has been sneasing, but its so intermittent and uncommon I cant catch who it is. Otherwise, temperament and everything feels fine, but cant explain these dark discolorations at the base of the...
No actual Feral/wild. On Hilton head, in hardeeville, and throught the grewter savannah area. Escaped or discarded pets at one time no doubt. But currently wild and with no coop to call home.
Thanks Jed. The large white rooster(pic 3 with mix BR too) is unrelated to the smaller birds. The sultans must be silkie cross then. Ive got some with yellow/light legs. Some with black skin and 5 toes. So silkie is somewhere but back yard muty is what I presume.
