I have 3 hens as pets. They are close to 3 years old. They just went through a molt, which usually slowed down egg production anyway, but this time they just stop laying altogether! Now, it's been about 3 months and not one single egg!! How do get them to start again? I was thinking of...
I'm not sure whats happening... I had 4 girls who started laying less and less. I live in SW Florida where it's pretty hot and humid and rainy right now (not sure if that matters). I just got back from a 10 day vacation and the person looking after them said lots of eggs were laid with a very...
They have so many different kinds of poo. The "chicken health handbook" has helped me a lot. They even have a section about all the different poo that comes from chickens. You can probably find a used copy on amazon. Good luck!

My brown leghorn hen has a super huge floppy red comb. Recently, it hardened a little and it's not as red. I was wondering if there is anything I can do you soften it back up or if something is wrong with her. I'm worried about her. Also, my white leghorn hen's legs are getting lighter and...
Maybe I need to get a rooster to keep her in check. I tried the up-side-down trick and it was successful for about a half an hour. Then I had to do it again and again. The neighbors must think I'm crazy. I think maybe she'll get it eventually. It might just take a while, though.
Thanks for all...
She is most definitely a she and laying eggs. It's so weird because she doesn't even seem to be at the top of the pecking order with the others. They pick on her, but she just runs away. She's only aggressive with us which makes me sad because we spent so much time with them as babies to make...
So, I've heard of this happening. I want to know if anyone has any advise. My sweet little hen, who was a total lap chicken up until 5 months old, is now trying to act like a tough rooster. She's even biting me if I pet or handle one of the other hens. She also gives you the "stink eye" and...
I live in SW Florida and it's been raining like every single day. Sometimes the run is a bit flooded. The chickens aren't confined to the run all the time, there is a side yard area that I open them up to when I get home from work. I am worried that they are in standing water too long though...
My 4 month old hen has a giant comb that has suddenly flopped over it's so big! She is a sex-link. I was wondering if anyone knows why it is so huge. Is it all in the type of breed or what? I'm confused.
