Ah thanks! My last baby is struggling to fluff and although the yolk is totally absorbed now it has quite a bloody ambilical cord still protruding and attached to a gory bloody mess stuck to the dried shrivelled membrane. I have removed the water from the incubator to try and reduce humidity...
Will get some more when I transfer to their homemade brooder x baby cup duck has been in there for 4 hrs now, still got yolk to absorb its about the size of an m&m she’s snuggled up now but every so often she perks up looks around cheeps madly and then snuggled back in
* update 2 more hatched in the night one at 3am and one at 5am I’ve checked and they absorbed well. 2 further this morning at 7am (an hr ago) I’ve popped them back in shell as had kicked out but still attached I’ve cupped them and will give them a few hrs to abosorb and perk up….. duck number 1...
He is in the incubator still, i had 4 eggs internally pip Saturday morning, Sunday afternoon no external pip so I popped in Safety holes then everything seemed to escalate membrane was dry and white and encasing the chick so I peeled a little shell and had been moistening every 2 hrs, dept...
Also i have one who’s wing has hatched and is over face foot above head!?
thanks Donna, I’m going to leave them be a little longer, alarm set every 2 hrs to assist keeping membrane moist and will help if any in distress . Can I ask you another question please. My duck that hatched earlier has...
Does this one need help peeping a lot and foot and wing now covering head he is pushing but not getting anywhere!? I don’t want him to suffocate!? My other baby has fluffed but still sleepy and can’t lift head yet
Thank you 🙏🏻 I will try this x another question does my baby need an assist as his foot is over head?! My babies all internally pipped and then nothing for 36 hrs I made safetyholes and then helped as all shrink wrapped! I’ve helped 2 so far , it was painstaking as all his feathers were stuck...
So the first on I assisted broke free today, first a wing then it’s head and neck unfolded and within 10 minutes it kicked out. However it was laying on the bottom of incubator and I noticed a bulbous area near it’s bottom, assuming it’s the yolk I’ve popped little one in a cup so it has time to...
So all babies have beaks protruding now, I am no longer assisting in any way other than to wet membrane every couple of hrs. 4 of 5 still have very prominent red veins…… as long as they are moving and chirping I will leave alone. At what stage will I know if they require any further assistance!?
Thanks I’m a little concerned she has a blood vessel right across her face all I can do it watch and wait. She keeps pushing on it though 😟
4 are all doing fine 2 hrly moisting, cheaping and chirping, just leaving them now to do their thing! One is upside down, made a safety hole where the...
Thank you for all your help, will Vaseline and cling film do for the baby pipped wrong end? The others I plan to moisten only and stay well away- no more helping or removing shell…. i will only assist if it becomes clear they need help.
I made a small air hole where bruise was but not peeled shell back as was scared if rupture a vein, especially as all my membranes are drying and sticking to shell, I was hoping to use the open air sac end as a way of seeing movement and the veins drying and yolk absorbing, she’s alive as her...
It’s little beak has moved over itself this egg is fine! … I have 4 chicks assisted and all doing well and the final one that had a dark bruiseat bottom in wrong pointy end however I didn’t notice it hadn’t pipped externally Candled and thought it had internally pipped naturally so assisted...
Hello again this evening I Assisted internally pipped duck (number 3 now) all on day 30 after 30 hrs since internal pip. Movement had reduced and chirping stopped. I had popped a safety hole in this morning so she didn’t suffocate, now it appears she’s moved since her internal pip so her beak...
Yes have done I just wanted to ensure she’s in correct position, she was pretty much filling the air sac and had had about 36 hrs between internal pip and my intervention. Still now only her beak is out the internal membrane. She’s cheeping a lot it’s so cute 🥰 I will keep the membrane moist if...
