I've had chickens a long time. Never any real trouble. I currently have 4 birds that are 3 1/2 yrs old. I have black australorp hen that has blood oozing from vent. When I laid her down it appears that her insides seem to want to come out. Her belly is hanging really low between her legs. Any...
I have a 9 month old Deleware that seemed fine yesterday, today seems lethargic, walking slow and is distant from the other pullets. I threw treats out and she didn't come. Her crop is like an air sack. all other pullets crops are firm. mostly just standing in one area with very slow...

I have 3 laying pullets that have been laying for 3 months and all has been good. today however one of the shells was paper thin. Is this an issue? the layer mash has calcium in it and I also offer free choice oyster shells.
And no eggs. doesn't seem like she is ever going to either. no changes in her personality, no squating. is there ever a point to give up? I have 3 other pullets that are the same age and have been laying for about 10-12 weeks, they are different breeds however.
I recently have been chatting in another thread and this topic came up. About a year ago when I was searching for information on this topic I was led to believe flat. I currently use a 1x4 and it seems fine, but should I be sing something round?
My hens are 23 weeks old and a week ago they ran out of grower so i bought layer feed. None of them are laying yet. should I go back to grower/finisher until they are laying?
so i had to clip my ee's wing today. I only have a mixed flock of 4 hens but the ee seems pretty flighty. is this typical of the breed? anyway, she has never been a warm and fuzzy type and we couldnt get our hands on her during the day so I waited till she was roosting tonight and picked her...
does anyone use this? it is a mill out of Iowa. This is the only organic feed I can find from my local feed store. appreciate any feed back

to the nest box? I have 4 15 week olds and have had the nest box blocked off since they were 5 weeks old because they would all cram into it to sleep etc....
I have 4 12 week old chicks and they finally are about done with the starter. do I switch to grower now? and for how long? then when do I go to layer and start adding oyster shells?
Currently they range in the yard for 8-12 hours a day and have starter feed and water available all day
I have 4 10 week old chicks and they are still eating the starter feed. Am I supposed to switch to grower feed at some point? Then to layer? a rough time line would be helpful. Also, since about week 7 they range around the back yard for at least 6 hours a day. usually more.
I have 4 7-8 week old chicks that have always put themselves to bed. couldn't ask for more. my question is, do I have to put water and feed in the coop area when they are in bed so to speak? or can I just leave it outside in the enclosed run and they can have it in the morning when I let them out?
I have 4 6-7 week old chicks who have moved into the coop and all night long they pile into nest box. I am not concerned about themm, but am coureous if this could be a problem down the road when they get older
