Is it normal for a hens vent to look like this?

Noticed today that one of my hens has some strange white/yellow looking stuff/bumps on her vent. It’s part of her skin or on there really good because I tried to remove it and couldn’t. None of my other hens have it. She also has been acting a little strange today. She is extra vocal & more...

First Egg & Identifying who laid it!

I’m a newer chicken mama & this is my first ever flock. Today one of my chickens had their very first egg & I’m obsessed! I have all Easter Eggers & they are 23 weeks old! It’s a beautiful little blue egg! I’m so proud! I was able to figure out who laid it by checking their pelvic bone located...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Haha thanks y’all! I appreciate it. I’m a mix between wondering if I should leave them be and not over think it and wanting to be extra proactive to keep them healthy and safe. Imma keep checking on them and will just bring them in for the night if it will help me sleep. Lol

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Same here! So far they are holding up alright. I have an emergency indoor coop set up for them if I need to bring them inside. I just checked on them as the flooding has picked up. Had some wet bedding so I quickly removed it and refreshed it with dry bedding & added a towel to block where the...

Anybody else stalking their chickens for first eggs?

I feel this! I have 4 Easter Eggers that are now 22 weeks old and I’m eagerly waiting for eggs any day now. I know EEs typically lay later than most other breeds but I feel like it’s been any day now for like 2 weeks. Lol they have been showing signs for a while now.. very red faces & combs...

    Flies

I just got some too. I wanted to get the reusable ones but couldn’t cause they only sell the disposable ones in my state. I’m in CA. I put mine in a tree next to the nesting boxes. That should be fine right? Won’t have an effect on the eggs?

    Sudden change in behavior

I’m a newer byc mama and my Easter eggers are 22 weeks old. I just opened their nesting boxes to them last week. They have been good about checking them out but not hanging out to long in them and sleeping on their roosts at night. They haven’t laid any eggs yet. Tonight though when I was...

    Chicken Swing

Built my chickens a little swing today in their run. Not sure if they will use it or like it but figured I’d give it a try, something different for them to explore and play with. I used left over wood I had from the coop build. I have 4 pullets in my flock. (About 10 weeks old) Hoping because...

    Blood on Pullets Combs

I noticed this afternoon that all my pullets have small abrasions on their combs. They are 9 week old Easter Eggers so technically their combs having come in. I’m new to chicken raising and not sure if it is common for small sores, skin breakage, minor bleeding or irritation is common when combs...
