    Egg Color?

    I heard that Barred Rocks are supposed to lay blueish eggs. Is this true? Mine just started laying and I am getting this pale-ish egg sometimes with brown spots. I'm sometimes not even sure if they're hers.They could be me RIR but she was laying BROWN eggs. Is this normal? will the egg color change?

    Can't decide the breed I want!

    Barred Rocks and Rhode ISland REds are wonderful. I am a first time chicken owner and I love my two. They are definetly cold hardy and they are good together. BRs are sooo sweet. I would get them.

    Feathers

    Mine are 4 weeks old and have just gotten feathered heads and necks. That is almost the last thing to feather. The tail is first then the inbeetween the wings. There are just a few unfeathered spots under the wings but they are pretty much fully feathered.

    Heating the Chicks

    I can run an extension cord. I am currently using pine bedding but since they will be in an old rabbit hutch that is raised above the ground, the bedding will fall through the wire floor.
