My year old Buff Orphington roo was having some balance issues last month and now the problem is wayyy worse. He can't really stand but he crouches down instead. Whenever he walks he doesn't stand up straight but crouches and waddles almost duck-like. He takes slow uneven steps and trips often...
My BR was molting normally but yesterday she looked terrible. She had no feathers on her neck and half of her tail feathers were missing. Today she looked a little better but she was still pale and somewhat featherless in those areas. What is happening?
I have two chickens I raised myself this year. They started laying a month ago and I was getting one egg from each chicken everyday. A week or two ago, one of them stopped laying!
She acts normal. She runs around the yard. She eats. She drinks.
My parents and I want to know, what is going on...
I heard that Barred Rocks are supposed to lay blueish eggs. Is this true? Mine just started laying and I am getting this pale-ish egg sometimes with brown spots. I'm sometimes not even sure if they're hers. They could be me RIR but she was laying BROWN eggs. Is this normal? will the egg color change?
My 9 week olds are shedding feathers like crazy! Is this normal? They are also not eating as much. They are not ill. Is this normal? They are laying in the more sheltered part of the coop on the top story now. You know the drill by now. Is this normal? Please at least answer the feather...
I need to know ASAP when Rhode Island Reds start laying eggs. Please only give me an answer that you know for sure is true and accurate. I need to know for showing purposes.
Barred Rocks and Rhode ISland REds are wonderful. I am a first time chicken owner and I love my two. They are definetly cold hardy and they are good together. BRs are sooo sweet. I would get them.
NEVER use pine. NEVER. It will give the chicks respiratory problems and others as well. NEVER use pine. I don't know about the rest but I would just cover the floor in chips OTHER THAN PINE. I don't know about the Stall dry or whatever. I never used it and every thing was fine without it. JUST...
My 4 week old road red hen was making some weird noises today. Then I realized that it sounded like clucking. Instead of her normal cheep cheep I heard cheecluck and cluk cluk. It didn't quite sound like the noises that grown chicks make but it was definetly a clucking sound. What is happening...
Mine are 4 weeks old and have just gotten feathered heads and necks. That is almost the last thing to feather. The tail is first then the inbeetween the wings. There are just a few unfeathered spots under the wings but they are pretty much fully feathered.
I am not sure but I watched a lady sex my chicks at 4 days old( thats probably best time) and she opened the wings. There was a certain shape or way that the feathers were layered. Do you have a mix of boys and girls? If so seperate them and then try to figure out which is which. If you have one...
I can run an extension cord. I am currently using pine bedding but since they will be in an old rabbit hutch that is raised above the ground, the bedding will fall through the wire floor.
