Our Tiger Lily has worms, photo attached. Can anyone tell what kind it is? It looks like roundworm to me but who knows!
We have Wazine 17 but I have read you can't give it to egg laying hens but I have also read you can? confused!
I was advised by my local feed store that I should give my birds durvet vitamins and electrolytes as well as tetroxy HCA-280. I have one bird that just seems off. However I failed to ask if it is okay to mix these in the same water. The rate I calculated are as follows;
Durvet - 3/4tsp per...
Thanks, I will keep a close eye on her. She seems fine, I did not see any mites on her but will look again. We are getting 5 americana the end of January so the whole pecking order is going to change again. Maybe she wont be the bottom chicken anymore.
It has been a while since I have posted, I have 10 chickens, 5 red star and 5 black star. My concern is one of the black stars comb is really dull. All the other chickens are bright red. She seems to be the odd ball of the flock, more like a loaner. I don't see the other chickens pecking at...

They are fine at night, the old chickens are on the high roost and the new ones are on the low roost. I am not out there in the dark but when we close up the coop all is peaceful.
We got 5 new 17 week old black stars last Wednesday. We kept them separate for 5 days. Our runs can be closed off from each other. At night we would collect the new chickens and put them in a dog kennel and then in the coop. For the most part all was peaceful except for the occasional...
Our RIR are only about 6 months old and the Black Stars will be 17 weeks old. I can separate them in two different runs but not the coop? If I pick them up early enough in the day I can at least have them separated until roost time. I have been doing a lot of looking on the internet and since...
We try to clean ours out every week. Our coop is 8x8 and we use one bail of wood chips per/week. Remove all the old stuff and put it in our compost bin. We also hang new vanilla air fresheners every week, it seems to help with the flies.
My wife and I started to double the size of our chickens run today. Should be finished by the end of the week. Our current run is 8x16 and we are doubling the size of it. We only have 5 RIR but we are looking at getting around 5 - 7 more chickens. Our coop is 8x8 and I feel there is plenty...
I cant shoot a rifle where I live so I have the compound bow ready to go, sneak out the front door and I am good at about 30 yards. Got two raccoons so far this way.
The one insects I am worried about are mosquitos because they are bad right now! Do we need to try and control them or are they not dangerous to our chickens? Thanks.
I have a broody hen that is sitting on eggs from my other chickens. My question is when a hen goes broody does she stop laying eggs and can I break of sitting on the eggs? We do not have a rooster so sitting on the infertile eggs obviously seems useless to me. Thanks,
