I think my dog must be an exception to the rule....when I first got the chickens 4 years ago he killed one. I didnt whip him, I just really scolded him...he is normally such a good dog so really hadnt been in '' trouble '' until he killed the chicken. He hasnt paid a bit of attention to them...
how much seven dust do you use and is it safe if they eat it? I also have some babies with my flock.....4 babies that are only 4 weeks old...will the seven hurt THEM if they ingest it? Their Mama has taught them to scratch in the dirt for bugs. Also, I use a capful of apple cider vinager to a...
I realize that this post was last month and I don't know if you resolved the issue with your hens eye...I just wanted to say I had a rooster that died from mareks...and I did a lot of research when he was sick....blindness and gray cloudy eyes can be a symptom of the mareks...if anyone has...
I am so hoping you are all right and maybe it's something else. I have sure never seen anything like it before. Now this morning he is improving again...just a little. He squeezed my fingers with the worst leg...and for the first time when I was holding him he started preening under his wing. I...
Omg. I just want to cry when I read this...I've had some of these girls for 5 years and they all have names and unique personalites...they arent just chickens, each one is my pet. I so hope it's not mareks, but I really think it is....One of the ladies on here is doing some research for me...
ugh. I have tried and tried to upload my images of Stuey and I just cant get it to go! I also have a short video. Is there an email address I can send it to that you dont mind giving me or do you have another suggestion???
Thank You, I will go check out her page. Those things you just mentioned are all things that Stuey does. :( I'm getting ready to post a couple of photos of him...I took a video but somehow (leave it to me! haha) I had the camera turned so the video is 'on it's side'...haha I know how to fix that...
Have you considered gape worm? I had that in my flock for awhile and it makes them ''rattle'' when they breathe, too. They dont feel well because theyre not getting enough oxygen.
I have one that is doing the same thing! He was a year in February and he is a big aracona. He follows me and I have to watch him because he's nailed ME a few times as well...the first time he did it I kind of laughed because I was wearing animal print pajama pants so I thought THAT was why but...
Well, I havent had a vet look at him but by the symptoms he sounds like the classic case. I have lost a few chickens mysteriously over the last few months. I would just walk out there find them dead for no apparent reason. Now I'm wondering if I've always had it in my coup. I started out with 11...
Yes, I'm just sick at the prospect of what's going to happen with my flock. They are all pets. :( You're right about not taking him to Dunlaps...he's not a chick, he's 4 years old. But I do have 6 baby chicks that were hatched here...
I want to try to figure out how to post a video for you bcuz I think then you'll be able to definitavely tell me whether or not it's MD. I grew up on a chicken farm from age 5 on all through the teen years and beyond and I've never seen anything like this...and I've asked my father if he's ever...
That sounds like she might have had an egg burst inside. I've had two hens do that. Also, Really keep an eye out, I dont know if you saw my posts about the Mereks Disease, but I think one of my roosters has it...it comes in on wild birds and where my feed is right out in the open the chickens...
annnnd...(why can I never get everything in one post? hahaha) The first sign of anything wrong I noticed him running across the lawn and he was limping on the foot that was later paralyzed first....then he started dragging that leg...then the next day the 'other' leg was paralyzed...Is it...
Sure I will post some pictures in awhile...I just got him all settled back in his crate. BTW I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who brings their poultry in when theyre sick.
I saved one of my polish hens with kitten formula and pediolyte when she got into some type of poison...she didnt lay...
