Our geese is a mix of sebastopols and cotton patch geese they are free range till breeding season they go right into the garden HOWEVER mine do not eat anything out of my garden which to me is crazy.. they go into it though which when we have young plants growing they sometimes walk right on top...
I posted this earlier this year in January to see if anyone out in BYC has Shetland Geese and if they sold hatching eggs or goslings. I am putting it out there to see again for this coming spring!!!
I know Holderreads does have goslings but they already have a waiting list for this spring :)
Thanks guys! Its a boy and he is very pretty! Hes only 4 months so hoping a bit more comes of his feathers then if it takes a bit longer.. Here's one I took tonight of him!
The grey in front is in question. I bought him knowing she had smooth in her flock I am fine with smooth in my breeding program. BUT he is now 4 months I am new to smooth but should he have basically NO curling but more flat feathers??? Thanks!!!!
I have right now 5 ile de france/dorset crossed ewes. They are only 3 months old. My plan was to find a dorset ram and breed them primarily for meat.
When I started looking for a breed of sheep I really wanted Polypays they are a dual purpose for meat and wool and they are very great mothers...
Thanks! We right now have a 4 all females! They hatched out all their eggs which I sold off I have 2 Sebastopols ( I sold the male seb 2 weeks ago since I purchased 2 new ones that I am hoping will be better quality) one embden and one cotton patch goose that lost her mate Febuaray for a nasty...
Well I have two bourbons that have begun to lay. I stuck 3 eggs under a broody chicken about a week and half ago, checked them today and none grew. Maybe I don't know what a fertile turkey egg looks like when cracked open lol... (first year with turkeys) but isn't the same as chicken a dot with...
I have a female this year that her eggs have been coming up about 75% infertile...Then on top of it she had some crazy werid egg that was fertilzed with her stuff and our males like 8 times it look like chicken pox all over the yolk...
I will let her breed again next year check her eggs but...
The association is under way slowly. We have no standards set yet. Its a work in progress thats for sure! Right now we are all trying to figure out who has them and what the different strains peoples are from!
Heres one of our babies this year! A boy!
I am very sorry to hear about your Goose. Do you know what happened?
Anyways, as for finding adult Cotton Patch that people are willing to sell is VERY HARD. These are Rare birds that are hard to find as adults because people keep their adults.
What I would suggest doing is finding a cheap...
They are all due this weekend! So far they are all looking good. Just putting it in the hands of my girl lol! I didn't end up putting any in the bator. So hoping my goose knows what shes doing! But I have candled some for the last 3 weeks and they all were growing!
I am not going to candle...
Hows your other gosling doing?
I agree it sounds like failure to thrive. You don't by chance have any one selling ducklings around like TSC right now or even chicks? Sometimes by placing a gosling, duckling etc. in with other birds can get it to catch on to eating the food since they...
I have searched on here and found some great threads about GP's. We acquired a GP that was 3 years old 7 years ago sadly he passed a year ago from cancer.
His name was Zeus. He was the most loyal and obedient dog I have ever owned. He was fantastic with all our animals from day one. He came...
Tonight while doing my chores I got to witness one reason why I think geese are the most incredible species and why I have so much love for them.
During breeding season its mostly the female who sits on the eggs, but if she gets up to stretch her legs, our male takes over, fussing around...
