It's so hard when they get old. I hope the 2 of them can keep each other going. The day before Thanksgiving, I lost my 8 year old rooster, Augie. He was my absolute favorite rooster, the only one in a long line of roosters who actually acted like he liked me! He would always greet me...

Hot as you can stand compresses or just run hot water over the itchy areas for a few minutes. Keep doing it every time the itch starts. It really works! And works on poison ivy or bug bites.

Great list of perennials, Mary. Seminolewind, have you checked your chickens for bird mites/lice? A problem can develop all of a sudden. It's a bad bug year, at least here in the northeast. I found out that the mites the chickens catch from wild birds can get on people too. I always thought...

I just got through 2 years of Prolia shots every 6 months. I was told it was $4,000/shot!!! My insurance paid $2,000/shot and I was not billed the balance. Prolia makes some people very achy for weeks afterward. My aches and pains were worse while taking it.

I'm itching along with you Mary. Been doing the same outdoor activities and found myself pulling out poison ivy with no gloves. I thought it was another vine but i was wrong! I also have had 2 ticks attached - always in an inaccessible spot! I usually go outside looking like a total dork...

I told him that what he's dealing with is a case of "Worker Ruralitis". Nobody shows up to work, leaves you hanging. That is a thing! My parents owned a house on an island in Maine. We had to rely on the locals for help (paid them well). One summer we asked a local carpenter to replace our...

Cyn, be sure to tell him how all your "chicken buddies" are rooting for him to succeed and love to hear how he's doing. I think it helps to know others care. His story has been an inspiration to me - I've lost 23 pounds since the end of November! :celebrate

When I found out about my father, I did not have any desire to meet any of his biological family - the few things my mother did tell me made them sound like not nice people. I am glad he was raised by his Aunt who was a proper Victorian lady and taught him to be kind and a gentleman. She loved...

That is totally it! It's the lies that upset me. And then feeling foolish when I think of past conversations with different family members and how they didn't step up and tell me the truth. As much as I adored them, I feel like I didn't know my mother and father at all. My sister reacted...
