Hey Peeps! My "baby girls" are now 10 weeks old. (I have a mix of silkies and reg size girls). Is it too early to mix with the 4 other girls (and 1 roo)? They told me they are cramped in their small coop ~ I figured with the unseasonably warm weather, it's a good chance to get them...

How many is ok? I have a 8x8 (remodeled playhouse) Coop and a 20x20 run. How many hens will be comfy there? I was guessing maybe 15... thoughts? The coup has 6 nesting boxes (we designed the nesting boxes to allow another row of nesting boxes on top), 4 2"x4' roosting staggered roosting...

When Kate Middleton goes into labor, the doctor will say "the baby is crowning!" and they'll laugh and laugh... the real question is whether it will be a wizard or a muggle.

Well my babies are 4 weeks old now ~ is it too cold outside to let them walk around for a little while? I've kept them in the kitchen for 4 weeks, I think they are going stir crazy. I have one that has become attached to me, Carrie. The exchequer leghorn. She's SO friendly! She roosts on my...

Congrats on your new babies! Mine are 2 weeks old ... just another 10 weeks before I can introduce them to the rest of the flock ... *sigh* I wonder how long I can keep them in the coop in the house before my DH makes me move them out? One, the questionable Ancona or exchequer leghorn...

I bought a show Mottled Houdans pullet this year and brought her home, only to find her infested with lice. It took us 5 weeks and a weekly dusting her (and the other 3 chicks) with DE and deep cleaning the coop until we got rid of them! WHAT A PAIN!! She is much happier and immediately...

Does anyone have a young or handled white silkie? My "playful" lab killed one of my newest girls, Leah last night. I guess they are about a week old. My poor 7yo daughter (and all of us) are devastated. It's amazing how attached we all become, even just after a week. I don't want a roo...

SO helpful! We have a poop board with Sweet PDZ in it ~ we use a cat litter scoop to clean the poo. On the floor we have regular bales of hay scattered. Dust seems to be my problem. Thing I hate more than anything, is breathing it in and cleaning out (TMI ALERT) my nasty nose debris

The babies are getting their feathers in on their wings or "armpits" as my 7yo daughter would say. I'll need to take a few more pictures and see if you guys recognize any of the 'unnamed' breeds. Anyone have thoughts on straw/hay? There is another thread about "experimental" bedding...
